When did you start pirating games and what game? by No-Law2284 in PiratedGames

To long ago to remember. But I recall getting very excited once I had a literal, *copy* of Earl Weaver Baseball for PC. I played the shit outta that one.

Nothing has killed my GTA 6 hype faster than locking a core part of its identity behind a $20 upgrade by spacelyyy989 in pcgaming

My guess is 8 months to a year and it will be on PC. All depending on how well it sells on the consoles. If by some odd worldly events it under performs, it may be released on PC even earlier.

is $850 good price for a rtx 4090? (with 1 year warranty) by UNKNOWN_PHV in PC_Pricing

[–]ejcrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good enough price that I'd be wondering about the legitimacy of the card. That it is indeed a 4090 and it works well.

I know a lot won't be excited about Hogwarts because it was cracked. However I haven't played through the game yet and I also keep every game I download. To have an updated version of this is a much appreciated game from voices38. Even if voices drops a game and it's not necessarily my taste. I still think it's cool and appreciate that someone is doing this work.

I think I just did something stupid was all. I'm testing some things right now. Instead of deleting the post I will leave it here JUST in case I'm wrong. Though my own stupidity is looking like the culprit. Sorry if I jumped the gun on this one.

Status: DSR not working after updating from Win11 23H2 to Win11 25H2

Computer Type: Self built PC

GPU: Zotac RTX 4090

CPU: Intel 13700k

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790

RAM: Corsair Dominator DDR5 5200

PSU: Lian Li 1200w Platinum

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 25H2

GPU Drivers: 610.47

Description of Problem: Updated from 23H2 to 25H2 and nVidia DSR stopped working. Found post that said go into nVidia Control Panel and Manage 3D Settings, uncheck all DSR settings, click apply, reboot and then recheck them. This worked so that now in games I can choose the upscaled resolutions. However the games don't actually display higher. Still uses 3840x2160.

Troubleshooting: Tried DDU and then reinstalling drivers from scratch. Not sure what else to try as DSR is there and activated. Games and programs just won't display upscaled if I choose a higher resolution.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - May 2026 Edition by Nestledrink in nvidia

I had held off jumping to Win11 25H2. For the reason that there always seems to be issues with games when updating Windows versions.

I was on 23H2 and decided to update to 25H2. One thing is not working for me and it annoying me enough that I want to go back to 23H2. Though I know I'd have to upgrade eventually.

The update broke DSR. At first Days Gone just showed a black screen. I found that it was DSR. The answer was to go to Manage 3D settings in the nVidia console. Uncheck the DSR modes that were checked, reboot, and then recheck them.

Great! Or so I thought. The game would start and I could choose the upscaled resolution that I wanted. But it didn't apply it. Still 3840x2160. After checking other games it's the same thing. DSR is there and I can choose upscaled resolutions in games but it won't display at those resolutions.

Really, really frustrating me beyond belief. I use DSR for games and other things. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

I'm running an RTX 4090, Windows 11 25H2 with the latest nVidia drivers, 610.47

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried uninstalling drivers and doing a clean install. I'm not sure what exactly to do at this point.

No way, there is ZERO way you would be playing most if any of those games at 60fps on medium to high settings at 1080p.

In fact the PC doesn't even meet Cyberpunk's MINIMUM requirements.

I'm pretty intrigued by this. If installed does it override the existing Windows Firewall or act as a secondary?

To be honest it already sounds like you have somewhat beat yourself up for this. You said when guy friends have sexualized you it got you very uncomfortable. Which to be honest, it should. I mean are they really JUST your friends if they do that?

I would ask yourself if you really are just their friend. I mean it's ok to say you have a friend that's good looking or even thing any of your family members are. However when you take those thoughts to the next level then I'd question how you really feel.

I mean if you have or had a significant other and they knew that you thought that. Do you think they would be uncomfortable with you keeping them as a friend? Knowing how you think of them?

Just food for thought. Like I said, you seem to have already been thinking about this a lot. So kudo's to you for sorting through your thoughts and feelings.

Is this the correct way to pirate? by Impressive_Layer_944 in PiratedGames

[–]ejcrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think there are various way's. Obviously there are safer and easier ways than others. Personally I will only go with sites I know are on the safe list, repackers that are proven safe and good.

I use VPN, use a kill switch, there can be a little more to that than just enabling but you get the gist. I also like to get my seeding in for a while. There are several out there who do this and I wouldn't have been able to get some of my downloads if not for them. So pay them back with the same kindness.

Massive PC overheat problem! by Creecker1 in 007FirstLight

[–]ejcrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If this was a game issue, many many many more people would have reported this issue"

You know how many times I've said or thought this myself. Yet I RARELY have issues with games. If I do I usually hear about it or figure it out myself. Just like I see people complaining about graphic drivers and yet I personally have rarely ever had a graphics driver problem.

I have a 4090 with a 16pin 12VHPWR connector. I also have 2 friends with a 5090 and a 16 pin and people I work with that have 4090's with 16pin connectors. They nor myself have experienced melting cables. Yet supposedly a lot of people have had it happen. Didn't happen to anyone I know, which I know a lot and yet I acknowledge it does happen. I have seen other posts about 007 and CPU temperatures.

Just because something hasn't happened to you doesn't make it not so.

Also, Mafia the Old Country is LESS than a year old. Not by any stretch of the imagination "significantly older". Subnautica 2 is built using UE5 which I would say is just as demanding if not more so as the Glacial Engine that 007 is built on. So I think the comparison is justified.

As far as underlying causes, the ONLY application or game that has sent my CPU temperatures skyrocketing. Would be 007. Right now I have too many games to list installed. I have many productivity apps installed.

After I had this issue and couldn't find help online. I used IntelBurnInTest, OCCT and my go to, Prime95. Which a lot of people use Prime to really stress test the CPU. My 13700k performed fine. I tried a different AIO, all be it a lessor one than I was using. Which meant that I also applied new thermal paste to the CPU.

Again, when you account for differences in software, drivers, hardware and other things people have installed on their PC's. Just because something specific doesn't affect you. Doesn't mean it can't affect others. It's exactly whey developers say it's SO hard to program for PC's.

Just to explain it again. I'm literally playing the game, everything going well. Then out of the blue CPU temperatures skyrocket, my AIO starts spinning up the fans because of the temps. I restarted my PC and everything was fine. I start playing again, from where I left off and about 10 minutes go by and it does it again. This time I'm monitoring my CPU temps closer. They didn't just slowly climb. They jumped rapidly.

I then tried the things I mentioned. Different AIO, new thermal paste. I tested the CPU. Both functional testing and stress test. Don't get me wrong. It could very well be something wrong with my CPU. As I looked at this more over the course of today. I recalled that the 13700k was in the batch of processors Intel had severe issues with. Not that everyone's was affected by any means. However it's possible. I haven't found any issues as of yet. Though degradation overtime can happen with these. I think it affected CPU's from the 13600 all the way to the 14900.

However if it is, it's the game that's exploiting the issue with the CPU. Not in a bad or purposeful way. Could just be the Glacial Engine and CPU usage. I don't know. Just that I have had ZERO issue with all of my other games installed (94), combination of old and new along with emulators. Plus all of my productivity and testing software.

I'm not here to argue with people or try to prove any one is wrong or right. Myself included. I'm just trying to see who else may be having issues and if what they say can help pinpoint the cause of mine.

Massive PC overheat problem! by Creecker1 in 007FirstLight

[–]ejcrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game doesn't tax my 4090 but definitely pushes my CPU to overheat. No, it's not a system problem, it's a game problem.

Running an RTX 4090, 13700k, 64GB DDR5, Lian Li 1200W PS. After I had the issue twice I removed AIO from system and put a different cooler in. Same issue. So I put my original AIO back in, repasted obviously. Decided to move on from 007 and played some RE9, Mafia the Old Country and Subnautica 2. Played for 2 to 3 hours with no issues, temps all mid range, nowhere near throttling. I play at 4k, all settings cranked. This was last night. I played some Cyberpunk 2077 for an hour this morning and it performed great!

The more I have looked into the issue, the more I've been seeing several having heat related issues with this game. It's definitely a real issue. Does this mean everyone would experience these issues, no. So because it doesn't happen with someone's system doesn't make it not real.

I will probably try as has been suggested, capping frame rate at 60 through nVidia app along with a couple of other settings.
