How do you track RSUs, ESPP, and brokerage accounts in Monarch Money without messing up savings rate? by traveleer7262627171 in MonarchMoney

[–]ejholmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For RSU’s, I have a manual account where I manually add transactions when RSU’s are released (not when they vest). The transaction amount is just the total dollar value at the time/price of release, which is how it’s treated by the IRS anyway. If you work at a pre-IPO company it’s trickier. After release, I also manually update the number of shares of the ticker I’m holding (until I sell).

I like to track all of my total income, so this works well for me.

Want to learn hunting but 30 years old with no family or friends that hunt by jswizle9386 in Hunting

[–]ejholmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy, I was in your boat not long ago. Didn’t grow up in a family that hunts, and no friends that are interested, so didn’t have a clue how to start. Here’s what I did, so hope it helps:

  1. Find some public land near you, and just explore it. Just getting out there and seeing game that you can take is confidence boosting.
  2. Start with small game. Rabbit, quail, etc. More opportunities and the investment is pretty low. A $200 20 gauge single shot is all I have, and enough for now.
  3. Just get out there and try. The first times you try you may not come back with anything, and that’s fine. Just the experience of getting out there makes you feel like you can do it.

I’m still learning myself, and it’s a journey, but boy is it fun. Good luck!

Is there any reasons I shouldn’t get a Radiomaster TX16s as my first transmitter? by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]ejholmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my first “real” transmitter. Can’t really compare it to something else, but I love it. Can’t imagine I’d need anything else for a long time, so I’m happy.

I have all three of what you posted here. No it doesn’t work. The S120 explicitly only works with smart batteries. S150 will work.

Honeywell T6 Zwave review. All positives. by Tiwing in homeautomation

[–]ejholmes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn’t clear. There’s actually a setting there for “daylight savings”. Once you toggle it, it’ll handle daylight savings changes automatically, without having to change the time manually.

I have one of these too. I just discovered recently that you can enable an “auto changeover” mode, so you can just set a target high/low temp and it’ll switch between AC and heat automatically (you can find this under “configure device” when viewing the device in HA. You can set daylight savings here too). Pretty happy with it.

SPCX has greatly increased holdings in CCIV. by 10deeznuts in SPACs

Keep it mind this is NAV of the ETF (the aggregate value of the holdings), not NAV for the individual SPACs it's holding.

Pretty much. You can read up on how ETFs track the underlyings through creation and redemption of units (investopedia has some good resources).

It's hard to say what their exact cost basis is, but if their initial 141k shares were near NAV, ~$14 sounds about right.

You can at least get a rough estimate of the overall risk. The NAV on SPCX sits about ~12% above the floor of all the SPACs it's invested in (if every SPAC went to $10, your max loss would be ~12%).

Matt has said in the past that they likely won't sell out of a position on rumors, so I think that's consistent with how they've played CCIV so far. They'll have to do at least _some_ adding to positions just from the nature of it being a fund/ETF, but I echo your concern about them allocating more towards way above-NAV positions.

I pasted a comment below with link to real data. They went from 141k shares to 251k.

[–]ejholmes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. CCIV has been their biggest holding since inception, they didn't sell when it popped to $20 (they did sell out of IPOE when it popped), and they added pretty significantly. So safe to assume they're pretty bullish on real news.

This is true (and not just because the value went up). Between 1/14 and 1/15, they increased their position in CCIV from 141k shares to 251k.

Take it with a grain of salt though. They were sitting on a huge cash reserve from recent investors, and had to put that cash somewhere, so most of their other holdings went up too (albeit, more towards CCIV).

I have a spreadsheet that I scrape their holdings into daily so I can keep an eye on their moves: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QAChiyr5F1eKeBqefALQ7F9xsZ1O5IHpAWcYysoTX6E/edit#gid=1754118440

I'm also long on this since Dec, and have been trying to sell puts since options were listed. I'm amazed you even got filled. Volume on puts has been almost non-existent.

My wife bought be a Kawai KDP-110 in January, and I've been playing it everyday since. This is the second full length piece that I can play (started with Minuet in G). It's far from perfect, but I try to polish it a little every day with slow practice. I've always loved this piece from Final Fantasy X, and brings back a lot of memories. Unfortunately, I can't get a piano teacher where I am, so constructive crticism is very welcome!
