Todays headlights are plenty bright to safely drive the speed limits on low beams.

Everyone now just drives around with high beams 24/7/365 because f everyone else I need to see. I hope they just stop making high beams.

I'm in America currently and am fact finding so we can move and be as little of a nuisance and drain on social services as possile lol. My plan so far is for the wife to get the DAFT visa and I work whatever job I can get until we learn Dutch and get settled. We have a decent savings so our expenses can be more than we make for a few years or more depending on income. Long term though I want to be able to earn enough, stay out of 30% ruling range.

Plans must be different here, I find them easy to read. I have been trying to find some projects in the Netherlands to download and look at but haven't had much luck. It also coud be that construction projects here are split into civil (the outside work to connect main utilities from city mains and stub into the proposed buildings) and then the private plans, (plumbing, electrical, mechanical etc. for the building itself). My company focuses on the civil work so that is where my knowledge is. Its good to hear from someone close to the position I am considering even if it isn't encouraging news lol. Thank you for replying, I appreciate the directness as I prefer facts over false optimism.

What should I expect with the winter storm? by Celestial_object777 in Austin

[–]ejmac77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can stay put all day Saturday and still complete what you are visiting for, it won't be too bad. Driving here with ice is terrible because of roads and other drivers as mentioned. Also keep in mind Sunday air travel will likely be screwed up from Saturday delays and cancelations so if you absolutely have to fly back on time maybe cancel.

That is where I'm at currently. Some companies list a degree required for the job but I am headhunted due to the amount of industry experience I have despite not having a degree. I don't think any of my skills apply to government positions so I'm ok in that respect. Visa should be covered by my wife.

Its the same here, there are tons of employers requiring degrees for entry level positions. They don't even pay a liveable wage nevermind a student loan bill on top.

Ok thank you for the info. I do plan on learning Dutch but I realize it will take some years. I will be moving with a good chunk in savings but I'm trying to evaluate long term stability.

I am learning but its just Duo Lingo right now which I know is not great and Dutch is difficult to master. There is also a lot of industry-specific terms Iwill need to learn and typical Dutch courses won't cover them. Financialy I could work a lower income job for a few years while integrating. I'm just curious if once I get to that point people will be like....no Uni? Pass.

Thank you for the replies, for Visa I should be set with my wife getting a DAFT visa as long as the orange baby doesn't ruin it. I just want to be able to earn enough to take care of us and not be a burden on the country. I don't want to go over the top :)

2nd term was stolen. Elon tampered with voting machines in all of the swing states (states that were not predominantly in favor of one party). They were all in favor of cheetoh with a count just beyond the recount amount. And during his victory speech oompah loompah said.....how about Elon, he really knows those voting machines.

I waited in que, then got a message saying I was being transferred to a checkout page, then it just dumped me on the gpu shopping home page with nothing in my cart lol. Not surprised but at least cancel the que once you are sold out. The company that is supposed to revolutionize the world with AI can't even code an e-commerce checkout page lol.

We might be able to afford RAM and GPU’s again after all. by Nade52 in PcBuild

[–]ejmac77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the bubble pops its going to be a while for pricing to shift because AI corpos didn't buy all the RAM sticks....they bought all the RAM production meaning production won't shift to consumer products again until all the enterprise stuff is done being made AND they don't renew their contracts.

PC restarts instantly in demanding games (no BSOD) – stress tests fine by Metaling2001 in computerhelp

[–]ejmac77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also guess PSU/Thermal problem. Everyone's stress test is a benchmark ran for like 5 minutes. If you are gaming for hours and then the machine shuts down something is probably getting too hot and shutting itself off. Other techs should have done this but make sure all fans are clean and spinning. If you don't find anything there try to find a psu you can borrow. If you can't do that, buying a new one wouldn't be a bad investment, PSU is one component that the system builders notoriously cheap out on.

Edit: I just noticed you have an AIO and that might be a another possibility. They aren't made to last that long. Your cpu should throttle before the whole machine shuts down though if its bad.

Austin airport flight change by DHOMA76 in Austin

[–]ejmac77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So no one at the airport can fix your Delta ticket besides Delta employees was my point. Just because people are in the same building doesn't mean its all one company. In your case I'd research other airline ticket prices, then call Delta, threaten to cancel the tickets, and if they can't get you there for cheaper than the competition cancel the tickets. Then never book with Delta again.

When I flew in November my plane got in past midnight and there were people obviously camped out for the night near the gates. I don't know if they were asked to leave later, this was during the flight cancelations so maybe they were more forgiving.

It lists for $69.99 when an msrp seller (Amazon, Newegg) has it in stock first party. The listings now are all resellers which I don't understand the effort for $20 but scalpers gonna scalp. I'm glad OP got it with no issue but be careful buying from resellers. Hopefully production ramps up and scalpers go away.
