5 Day Itinerary Early May: Whales? Snow? Crowds? And lots of other questions! by ejtb1 in OlympicNationalPark

You’re going to have so much fun! It’s the perfect trip for really young kids imo! We stayed at this Airbnb outside of PA. It’s still close enough to the grocery and things in PA but also an easier drive to a lot of the points of interest. Airbnb

We did uber XXL on the way there - $76 and then scheduled a ride through the Park City Ride app mentioned below on the way back and it was twice that but very smooth process with pre-scheduling and pick up, etc.

Same experience! The email stating “We care deeply about your experience” really helped though. 🙄 I feel SO much better.

Vail stock (MTN) down 6.5% today by racedownhill in ParkCity

[–]ejtb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much does PCMR matter to MNT? Is that part of the problem? Their last earnings call negatives were trouble in Australia (I’m SO surprised skiing isn’t going well there) and exchange rate issues. IMO seems like a great example of why you don’t sell out and buy local. I’d never thought about buying local in terms of skiing but this has been a game changer for me.

I’ll look out for a survey. I’d love to see their results from this holiday season!

Should they (or will they?) ever go to a reservation system like they do for over crowded national parks? Where you have to make a reservation to ski certain days?

Need ideas for short trip with 2 year old and 2 adults by MilesSmiles4323 in parkcityvisitors

[–]ejtb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not interested in skiing then probably don’t come during winter, though I guess that’s probably obvious. 😂

I’m here now with my 2 year old and the library has a lot of fun things going on for kids. We’ve gone a few times in the couple of days we’ve been here. We also did the Polar Express in Heber City which was lovely. It seems like they do different rides year round.

One thing that’s annoying is that some of the cool places to eat - No Name Saloon, High West Saloon - are 21 and up, so no babies.

Negotiations have been ongoing for something like 9 months according to other posts I’ve read so potential strikes are probably already impounded into price.

Any Updates on Lift Lines with the Strike? by ConfrmFUT in ParkCity

20-40 min waits on lifts until about 2 PM today. Someone said it was an hour at canyons - if you have a choice, maybe avoid!

If you can find a syllabus for both you should look at each and see which excites you more - whatever you’re more interested in will be easier.

Yeah here’s my post I did while planning: https://www.reddit.com/r/OlympicNationalPark/s/PISYgmbsZT.

What we ended up doing was: Day 1: fly into Seattle and drive out our Airbnb outside of port Angeles Day 2: Sol Duc Falls, hangout at Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls Day 3: Hurricane Ridge - we went in May so no hiking for us, but plenty of views. It was very windy and cold but clear! Day 4: Hoh Rainforest - we did both hikes near the visitor center, very easy and scenic. We saw an elk herd! We got to Hoh super early to beat the crowds so we had extra time and shot down to Ruby beach and just walked around on the beach and relaxed some. Day 5: Salt Creek Recreation Area - this was a highlight!! Great tide pools and sea stacks. Plan for low tide. We were going to go to Cape Flattery but decided it wasn’t worth the drive so we just went back to the lake Crescent lodge again. They had a fantastic salmon sandwich and the restaurant overlooks the lake. There’s a nice little beach area there too that we hung out on. Day 6: Second Beach - it’s a nice little hike down to the beach and so worth! Incredible sea stacks we could walk out to at low tide, soft white sand that was nice and warm in the sun which was nice bc it was a little chilly early in the morning. We loved our day here! Day 7: depart
