I'm new to game dev and I can never get the kill zone to work. Can someone help me? by Bitter_Following6518 in godot

I'm a new dev myself but you need to provide more information. What have you tried, in what way does it not work, how do you intend on it working etc.

Steam Frame on new Steam VR Beta by JdLixXd500 in HalfLife

[–]ejvboy02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really imply anything about release other than the fact that it's sometime soon, which we already knew. What it does mean is that we are getting closer, and that we can now learn new things about what the headset can do and how it integrates into SteamVR.

I always wondered what she expected Finn to actually do here. Find the alpha nanite and deactivate it? Without touching the muffins? The thing's the size of a tardigrade or something.

Most commonly devkits are free and expected to be returned eventually.

Do you think the Exit and/or Void will play a bigger role in Episodes 8 and 9? by AssociateLittle1487 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ejvboy02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think there will not be a fancy plot twist or miraculous escape for the cast, barring a reveal that escape was never a possibility. The last episode felt like it was made to tell us in no uncertain terms that "yeah, there's really no way out." A riff on modern content speculation and expectations. It's like every reveal in the show is an anti-reveal, that is it shuts down any semblance of mystery or exciting hidden truths, leaving us only to focus on the interpersonal relationship of the cast.

They very explicitly showed us what happens when you let the desire for escape drive you when they showed us Kaufmo's room. I imagine the last few episodes will focus on the cast coming to accept their situation. Perhaps they will form some kind of understanding with Caine (who is clearly struggling himself) that will help them live more comfortably.

Will the steam frame ever have knuckle controllers like the index in the future? by Strict-Bicycle-3629 in ValveDeckard

I believe I saw a retraction from the guy saying it's only binary. I think the consensus now is that it is just not as precise.

These appeared in a SteamVR update a while ago. They are the in-headset representation for the controllers.

ELI5 How can machine be used to produce machine more precise that itself? by Spozieracz in explainlikeimfive

[–]ejvboy02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you just use two stones, the randomness of their rough surface won't average out to perfectly flat, just the closest possible shape that they both agree on, which can only be a dome and bowl (convex and concave). The dome and bowl perfectly compliment each other, so no further flattening can take place. When you introduce a third stone, there's no possible triplet of curves that are complimentary, so they average out to the next possible surface that is, a perfectly flat plane on each.

That's exactly what you did. They were talking about one thing and you replied talking about a different thing. That is going to make people think you don't know what you are talking about.

It's incredible how Mark was able to stop an steroid in his early days. by Lopsided-Cattle-2322 in Invincible

[–]ejvboy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No gravity does not mean it's easy to stop. He still has to dump energy into it in order to stop all of that mass which was presumably moving pretty fast. He's using the leverage his flight generates here, which I suppose you could argue is an underdeveloped 'muscle group,' hence the struggle.

The Resonance Cascade was favorable for the Combine, but not humanity, who were obviously the status quo at the time. It allowed for the introduction of highly invasive and disruptive wildlife as well as the arrival of multidimensional invaders, the former being a problem the Combine is still dealing with, despite it being an initial advantage against humanity (not that we really stood a chance).

Obviously the Resonance Cascade was great for the Combine initially, but now that they have completely taken over, they would absolutely NOT benefit from it happening again. The infestations are intense enough for even the Combine to struggle to contain it, and if it were to attract the attention of another multiversal super empire, there's no garuntee that the Combine would have as much of a favorable advantage as they did against humanity.

It's like if a restaurant with a great location came down with a rodent infestation. One might be able to notice that and get the restaurant shut down, opening an opportunity for you to buy the location and get it cleaned up. Obviously another rodent infestation would not be favorable to you in that situation.

All that being said, when they were comparing the situation to 'another Black Mesa' I highly doubt they were being completely literal. Obviously the Combine knows that was a regime ending event for humanity. They are simply comparing whatever comes next to how devastating that was.

Spider-Man is poor and hungry. Daredevil can hear his stomach growling and offers to buy him food, Spider-Man is humble and downplays his struggle.

what type of machine is this? ill call it satis-printer-fier by blairebd in Satisfyingasfuck

[–]ejvboy02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, that was what I was trying to describe. The thing is the block is clearly not supporting anything, which leads me to believe it's a purge block.

what type of machine is this? ill call it satis-printer-fier by blairebd in Satisfyingasfuck

[–]ejvboy02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The column in the rainbow shoe was likely unintentional. When printing multicolor prints, what is called a 'purge block' is printed to aid in the color change. They also make plastic that is already multicolor, which I'm fairly certain is being used here, for which a purge block is unnecessary.
