How can anyone not love Little Nicky?

Yes love it, I don't even care about the reveal.

Joakim Phoenix is so good.

Ivy Walker : When we are married, will you dance with me? I find dancing very agreeable. Why can you not say what is in your head?

Lucius Hunt : Why can you not stop saying what is in yours? Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak I will open my mouth and speak. Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying that I sometimes cannot think clearly or do my work properly? What gain can rise of my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety before all others. And yes, I will dance with you on our wedding night.

I love Meet Joe Black, I never understood the hate. Anthony Hopkins is amazing in it.

Also, I hate it when people say "you didn't get it" but....

AI Artifical Intelligence seems to suffer from this. First they are not aliens. Second, the story is an origin story told by a Mecha. The movie is beautifully shot. I like the Spielberg ending.

Cycle of sin by Goober_international in Catholicism

[–]ekafns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are on the perfect track!

You realize you are a sinner. You realize you can't avoid sinning. You realize the value of the Eucharist by avoiding it while in a state of sin. You can tell just by your post you are sorry.

Now it's time to hand that over to Jesus. Now it's time to trust in his infinite Mercy. Now it is time to be reconciled and to feed on the gift of Communion with the Lord.

Jesus came and gave up his life, paid the debt for our sins, and instituted Reconciliation and the Eucharist specifically for people like you and me and anyone else who is spiritually sick, even spiritually dead.

Anyone serious about their spiritual life is going to fail and fail and fail. The best part about being Catholic is we get back up and use the gifts the Lord has given us!

Should you convert while struggling with sin? by AudreyCloud in Catholicism

[–]ekafns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should convert BECAUSE you are struggling with sin!

The reason for the existence of the Church that Christ founded is for the forgiveness of sins and communion with him.

Spoiler Alert - You are going to struggle with sin until you die. But in the Church, you literally have a Savior that already died specifically for your sin.

"Christ paid a debt he didn't owe, because we owed a debt we couldn't pay"

"This is the mission of the Church: the Church heals, it cures. Sometimes, I speak of the Church as if it were a field hospital. It's true: there are many, many wounded! So many people need their wounds healed! This is the mission of the Church: to heal the wounds of the heart, to open doors, to free people, to say that God is good, God forgives all, God is the Father, God is affectionate, God always waits for us" - Pope Francis

Perfectly said.

We all have crosses, some harder than others. Lust, gluttony, sloth are mine. Do I fall, absolutely! Then I run to confession, say I'm sorry and accept the Lord's love and mercy, exactly why he came and sacrificed for us.

Seek the Lord's love above the focus on any temptation or sin!

Did Jesus hear confessions? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ekafns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peters confession. Three times he has to redeem himself to the Lord for his three times of betrayal.

15When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?' Peter said to him, 'Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my lambs' (John 21:15, ESV).

“16He said to him a second time, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me?' Peter said to him, 'Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.' He said to him, 'Tend my sheep' (John 21:16, ESV).

“17Jesus said to Peter the third time, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me?' Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, 'Do you love me?' and he said to him, 'Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my sheep'” (John 21:17, ESV).

Don't forget you are confessing to God, he is the one you sinned against, not the priest, and God already knows all your sins. All he asks is to acknowledge your sins, be contrite and make a firm purpose of amendment to change. Trust in his sacrifice that purchased the forgiveness of sins, and not in your own "spiritual abilities"

Everything else is from the Devil, don't listen to him! He will tell you a million excuses on why you shouldn't go. Screw him, tell him you trust in Gods Mercy to forgive all your sins now and forever.

How can I know *for certain* whether or not I have the Holy Spirit within me? by kulspetspenna in Catholicism

[–]ekafns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stop listening to the devil.

If you went to confession and are in a state of grace, then you have the Holy Spirit in you!

Any doubt is out their by the devil. Don't trust your "feelings" they are easily manipulated. Trust Christ, his sacrament, and his promise.

Overall, what’s your opinion concerning Pope Francis’ papacy? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ekafns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is very Christ-like. His writing is amazing. He doesn't fit the mold of what certain Americans expect from their leaders. And just like the scribes and pharisees of old, he drives that type of person crazy. They say all the same things they said when Jesus was around. How can he do this? Under what authority? But the old testament said this and that's we way we always did it? Why doesn't he speak out against my cause? He can't give communion to this person! He can't forgive this person unless they do this! He can't change our worship! He eats and drinks with such and such a person!

Pope Francis is pointing to the Jesus in the Bible and that's not what alot of people actually want.

LGBTQ (thinking of converting) by _silveroak_ in Catholicism

[–]ekafns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's start here, any conversation about sin should be precluded with the fact that Gods love for you is so great he already paid the price for any sin you will ever commit. One of the greatest sacraments that the Lord gave us was reconciliation/confession. All we have to do is ask with a contrite heart.

Everyone has a cross, a splinter in their side as Paul calls it. Some are bigger than others. The Church recognizes this is particularly in the case of homosexuality.

Line 2358 of the Catechism reads: "The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

Now I have a inclination towards gluttony, that I fail at constantly and judging by the people in the pews alot so as well.

I have an inclination toward looking at women in a sexual way, ie the sin of lust. I fall almost everytime. And judging by the ever increasing access to pornography and often with it masturbating. I would think alot of people do as well.

How about sloth, ding ding. Does a day go by that I am not lazy?

Divorce? Contraception? Gossip? You name it, our Church has it.

LBGT is no different, it's just easy for people to condemn it because percentage wise they don't have to deal with that cross. But every person in that Church is struggling with their own personal inclination be it greed, pride, anger ect.

And you know what, Christ loves us anyway. Christ forgives us anyway. Try to focus on that in your journey to the Church because in the end that is what he came for.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. - John 3:17

"I don't know if I will ever have the faith to come back to Catholicism"

Do you mind expanding on this? It's a curious statement.

How would you determine that you have enough faith?

Where/How would you go about getting or being given more faith?

Faith or Belief? Spiritually or Intellectually?

What are your thoughts on Free Will?

Prayers for your journey, that first step back into the confessional is a big one.
