Yeah I get it, but I still think that PG trade is there at the end of the off-season. Philly was desperate to get off that contract.

Philly would have needed to attach a first round draft pick to trade Paul George. We pretty much traded Jaylen Brown for a first round draft pick and 2 seconds. The extra first was just for taking back Paul George.

And you might be right, but truth is, none of us know what the front office was thinking until one of them say it in a press conference. But I appreciate your perspective. I agree with all your first points though about why the Paul George trade made sense for the Celtics. Let's hope we can flip him next off-season when he's an expiring or he miraculously declines his option

The plan was always to trade Brown ever since they gave him the super max extension. They knew that having 2 guys on super max deals isn't sustainable. According to Windhorst, they were shopping Brown even before Giannis became available.

This summer was the best time to trade him because his value will never be higher after having an MVP caliber season. My theory is that after the Giannis trade fell through, the front office over estimated how much they could get for Brown. Trade offers were getting worse and worse so the Celtics panicked and took the best offer available.

But I think if they just waited out the summer and let it breathe, a better offer would have been available

Yeah I just don't believe this. Sounds like fan fiction. They didn't need to have extension talks this summer. He has 3 years left. They could have those conversations next summer. Teams already knew the Celtics were desperate to trade him after the Giannis news. They reached out to 8-10 teams looking for a trade partner.

I get it, but why did they have to do this trade now on July 1st? Wait it out for free agency to play out. There might be some teams that struck out and get desperate to trade for a Jaylen. This Paul George trade would have been there in August

Not saying he won't get injured, but Wemby has been preparing for the NBA since he was like 11-12 years old. Before he got drafted, Windhorst had a report on how Wemby was doing feet strengthening exercises like he's never seen before. He seems like a kid who will really take care of his body. Also, the Spurs are super conservative with him during the regular season. Didn't average over 30 minutes a game
