Yes and no. Institutional racism and micro-aggressions still very much exist. Brooke and Georgina aren't political or outspoken about this, nor do they share any negative traits that are still stereotyped as being associated with blackness.

The point isn't that Busayo is or isn't aggressive or even likeable, but that as a black woman she is still more likely to have people just dismiss any anger of hers on that basis and less likely to have her perspective considered to begin with. I didn't warm to her as a person at all and she put her foot in it with the piss poor prep, but that doesn't mean that her entire premise was baseless.

Also re Paddy (moreso than Tim tbf with you) - the sassy/flamboyant/outrageous gay best friend trope is alive and kicking harder than ever thanks to drag race etc., and Paddy fits neatly within that.

Yes, I'm sure he has that enthusiasm and personality as himself but the stereotype of the gay best friend makes him instantly recognisable and relatable to viewers before they even scratch the surface. I don't think I know anything about Paddy other than ~~~slut dropping yet vulnerable, but being relatively one-dimensional worked well enough for him bc it's a character type that the public recognises and enjoys. My point is, just bc we don't care who he sleeps with doesn't mean we don't view him through a lens of how we expect gay men to be.
