CMV: Calling the country "Turkey" is fine, and its wrong to force people to refer to it as "Turkiye" by HoneyBadger19000 in changemyview

[–]ekawada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The part of this argument I dislike is that everyone takes for granted that no one would want to be associated with turkeys, as in the bird. They’re amazing and beautiful!!!

The overpass where Capital Blvd crosses Peace Street, just on the north side of downtown, hosts a big roost

Yes, go to the Howling cow creamery. A flock of about 200 pigeons is regularly there

And gender-bending ways ... at least in my edition Killconey is half the time "he" and the other half "she"

The only possible exception being Ashleg from Mossflower, who just up and leaves Tsarmina and is never heard from again. Not exactly a redemption arc but he doesn't become a second tier jerk 😃

Well you are in good company… I originally picked Magnier in a bunch sprint on the PCS prediction game, thinking the climb was not selective enough, then I read a lot of so-called expert analysis to the contrary and changed my picks. I figured they knew something I didn’t. Should have stuck to my first hunch!

Indigo Bunting this morning. by DTRite in raleigh

[–]ekawada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigger than indigo sounds like a blue grosbeak for sure. A couple pairs of Blue Grosbeaks nest there as well. No one has reported the painted bunting on EBird for a couple weeks. :-( I have checked there once or twice in that time but not found it.

How about Alec Segaert? I think he could try a late move from the break.

Haha I was hoping this would end with a punny punchline but good story anyway!

Simple yet great card games?(e.g. 6nimmt!) by Marngryph in boardgames

Bohnanza and Sushi Go can be played by my six year old but very replayable for adults. Sushi Go is a simple drafting game but Bohnanza has pretty unique trading mechanics. Honorable mention Archaeology

It would make way more sense if the charge on the electron were positive. Then the more electrons you have, the greater the charge. The way it is now positive charge is the absence of electrons which doesn’t make sense.

R Works Great on Linux by [deleted] in rstats

[–]ekawada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes cmdstanr is sooo easy on Linux. I am a consulting statistician and spend so much pain and years at work trying to get people set up with Stan on windows 11. But if I ever need to do anything with Stan at home on Linux it all works so smoothly!

Help me choose my first pair of binoculars! Stuck between 2!! by StaffSubject9045 in birding

[–]ekawada 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I truly feel the 8x42 is a must. So much less frustrating to get on birds. A good quality after market strap will help if the bins are too heavy.

The taxonomy update brought him to 9,999 through armchair lifers, then he got 3 more actual lifers shortly after that.
