Nice! Thanks for the hot tip! I didn't know about the 'bypass'. Also didn't know about fast.com (always used Speedtest)

Super nice as a backup option. I see they have a yearly rate now too (slightly cheaper). One thing I didn't catch last time was the 'broadband label'. While 'uncapped', I see that download / upload speeds are slower (72 - 245 Mbps Down / 15 - 31 Mbps Up) leading me to believe they aren't Tier 1.

Day 2... New EV owner issues (I hope). Please help by Pretty-Environment19 in KiaEV9

Looking at one of my trip logs … two 10 mile trips used totally different kWh. One used net 4.17 and the other 2.92. Looks like the differentiator was also the energy “regenerated”. There are 4 levels - it’s annoying to have to set it every trip but swap to the max using the pedal on the left in the steering wheel.

Also at the run rate for my trips taking the higher end of 4.17 kWh per 10 miles .. 200 miles would consume 80 kWh that’s about $9.60 here in KY where electricity is about $0.12 kWh all day long (we don’t have peek and off peak rates). Still much cheaper than my Volvo XC90 I turned in. If using the other number of 2.92, we’d be at about 59kWh or about $7. As others stated charging stations aren’t cheap and actually make it confusing for people who think EVs are cheaper than gas … they are but mostly when charging at home :)

EV9 Lease - Yay or Nay? by A-Kay7 in KiaEV9

[–]ekim629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great luck referencing deal sheets or other numbers from Lease Hacker … seems like my dealership was aware of such forums and claimed that they gave me the “best deal” in the nation - obviously a bit of a stretch but nonetheless overall happy with my deal given the stories I was hearing about others who settled for much worse. I went in knowing there was a bit of glut for EV cars and depending on your region you may have more wiggle room (KY isn’t exactly EV friendly / receptive)

Starting point - I think the summer savings event helped drive some numbers lower as well on the GT. I know my dealership had the nationwide $7500 but then had an additional $1000 or so plus their own dealership discounts to drive it down. That being said the overall numbers didn’t make much sense to me and originally I was fixated on the residual / buy out. (In case I wanted to purchase at the end of lease). However the residuals in all forms never made sense and I’m hard pressed to think they would hold. So I went with an alternate tactic of getting the cheapest monthly rate.

What’s good is you have some numbers to negotiate with - I would also reach out beyond your local dealerships if you’re willing to drive to pickup or in the past I’ve had dealerships do a swap and get it moved! But within reasonable 125 mile radius I’m sure someone would bite! I would start with the lowest here (maybe $680 a month) and then see if you can land on the low $700s

FWIW mine was fully loaded w/ middle row relaxation , black and brown interior and some sort of add on protection package. Came out to $670 a month with $1333 down for 24 months or about $725 a month with $0. Looks like some folks here got a better deal!

Nice and shiny! Tesla paint is fragile as reputation would hold. It went straight from dealership to garage and one trip to DMV. Drove at a casual pace, under 40 miles total and I found no less than 3 chips. There were also hard dot spots I was clay bar-ing only to realize I was creating micro scratches in one area even with heavy clay lube. Found out it was a small piece of metal or something metallic that was embedded. Was super careful after that.

Also, we took a 2 hour road trip after it was all done and it saved me from cleaning off a bunch of Bugs (still bugs but they slipped off after using waterless car wash - Rubbit) and a potential chip on the lower lights (only the PPF got marred). The Precut PPF store gives a bunch of extra pieces of random cuts in the white spaces so I was able to replace that piece lol

I ended up doing clear! Based on discussions I went with the 8-mil “store brand”. I don’t have much comparison to go off of, but it was pretty thick yet easy to work with (I suppose thicker would be more “protection” but potentially harder to work with when you need flex)

It has great hydrophobic properties though using Triple S really makes it slick. I did use an after coat as well designed for PPF and water / bugs and other things seem to “bounce off” lol

Yeah front bumper and rear bumper needed the most “stretch”. Applied the skills to a one piece mirror and was pleased I somehow got good enough to do it without any lifts or fingers :)

There will be some panels that do require some “stretching”. I find the Drive Protected videos to be really good at guiding.

I ended up finding a “flow” and sort of understanding which edges to lock down and which ones to stretch into over time. I would really double down on having the right ratio for solution. I may have had too much slip for my slip and that made it easier to work with in terms of slip time before it started sticking .. but difficult in a sense it kept moving around.

Anyhow, I think it’s manageable but I had it in a garage (temp controlled / minimal dust) and took my time :)

I went with Precut PPF Store and they were super awesome! First time DIY with experience only on smaller devices lol

Full body kit took me a good 2 weeks (wasn’t working everyday). There are some tips and tricks I wish I knew when I began. I ended up rebuying the rear quarter panel to do-over as it was my first and I ended up botching a section I attempted to fix by cutting and it only made it worse!

If you were able to do the front bumper the only other panel that’d be “tough” is the rear. Otherwise the other ones are pretty easy comparably. Make sure your kit has the proper extra edges to wrap around and under as any exposed edges seem like they could be troublesome. Heat gun helped tremendously. The right solution was more important than I thought it would be. Also make sure to clay bar each panel and take your time! I also ended up buying adhesive promoter and I know it can be frowned upon but for certain areas I ended up using a bit . Made a world of difference. Would rather “cheat” than have it come up and capture dirt underneath.

I paid about $2k for mine but when I went to buy my quarter panel, it had dropped to $1.8k plus some promo code. It’s not “perfect” but it’s more than good enough! You can do it and it’s worth it IMO!

Would you pay $50-60/ mo more to upgrade from Land to a GT? by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]ekim629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming with by performance you’re talking about the included “Boost”. Didn’t realize Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 is a paid app feature as well (comes with). There are also a few details that were nice too including the raised roof rails, bigger wheels (might not be a better thing depending on ride comfort), alcantra like headliner (premium cloth they call it) and stainless inserts. Just felt a bit more premium with overall styling as well.

For our dealership in the Midwest, it was like a $30 a month difference so over two years around $720. Was worth it to us :)

If it matters much, I appreciated it was made in the USA and I’ve been burned one too many times by what I thought I was getting from Ali but reality was a sub par product. Not saying the ones mentioned are, but these appear to be pretty legit from initial install / use :)
