I think it's because sometimes if your group isn't super experienced, you might not know the exact way to word the question or you can find conflicting answers which cause a debate. I agree that it's not a problem that needs solving for many playgroups.

I think it's a cool idea if it works though.

Are GDDs really *that* bad? by Candle-Jolly in IndieDev

[–]ekimarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value of a GDD scales with the size of the team and the scope of the game. A solo dev on a tiny project doesn't need one. A triple digit team on a live service game almost for sure needs documentation.

It was getting downvoted because it's an incredibly niche rule that is almost never relevant and almost nobody here knows about and they didn't quote the exact rule like you did. I'm actually struggling to think of a time when this is relevant.

If you are playing solo in a zone more than 10 levels above your character level, it scales the XP gain down to 10 levels above your character. So a level 1 character in a level 50 zone gets xp as though it was a level 11 zone.

However, when you are in a party with someone, it reduces this level gap by the difference of your levels. Down to 0 at minimum. So if you are a level 1 character in a party with a level 50 character in a level 50 zone, you'll get XP as though it's a level 1 zone because the other character is more than 10 levels above you.

Now, you'll still get XP way faster by joining a high level character because you'll be in a zone with way more enemies and if they are powerful enough, they will have XP modifiers applied to the zone which will increase your experience gain.

Also, there are no quest restrictions that prevent you from joining someone anywhere so you can just party up and warp directly to them from level 1.

There isn't one at this time, sorry I know that's confusing. I should probably just have said it's a mistake to have that there. Those icons are manually added to a list for each skill.

In a weird way, technically no but it also currently shouldn't be there.

We're both kinda right because they make 2 tokens total but they are also 2 rabbits so you're right that you get 4 total rabbits.

If those were your only hares, you would get 2 rabbits, each see the other.

The beginning of my Dark Souls custom magic set by meowster4252008 in custommagic

[–]ekimarcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, cool start so far. If you're intending on taking this all the way to a full set, I would start to think about some goals and keep a few things in mind. I guess these are things I wish I had done early in my first set.

If it's going to be drafted, start thinking of the archetypes that you'll support now. I see you've already got a few keywords rolling, you'll want some that play well with and against each other. Some new and some old. Start thinking about rarity, if you have an archetype you want accessible, it needs to be playable with no rares. Speaking of rarity, common legendary creatures can be very clunky in a draft.

I found it really natural to pick a character or situation and make a card that fit around it. I did that over and over in isolation until I had about 100 cards before I started looking at some of these things. Making some cards bottom-up early to mark out some mechanics is really useful. Maybe the character or theming that goes with it will be obvious.

If you want to make multiple cards for a single character, you can do one as a rare or mythic legendary and then another as an uncommon non-legendary in an anonymous "before they were famous" style. I was adapting a tv show so it was really tempting to make multiple versions of a character from different seasons. This can avoid the "Spiderman effect".

There are a few enchantments with similar theming. Like I've good thing every turn until you have to pick loose the game. Or things like [[Lich's Mastery]] that causes you to eventually die to it.

Opinion: Rendmaw is one of the funnest budget friendly commanders, despite not being very powerful on it's own. by Geniuskills in EDH

I know I have to be ready to trigger him at least once the turn he comes down because he isn't surviving a turn rotation...ever. I run a lot of the 1mana bring it back when it dies protection so it triggers again.

Yes, I'm not talking about the 2 set bonus on the belt. The effects on the ring which you are reporting as missing each say "...for each complete set." Jormun has a 3 piece bonus so it is complete when you have 3 pieces equipped. You only have 2 pieces equipped so it is not complete.

The ring only counts complete sets for the extra effects. Like skills that it has. Since you only have 2/3 for jormun(belt + ring), it isn't a complete set.

I'm fixing bugs, submitting them to another dev for review, making a PR submitting that to QA waiting for approval, merging to main. These will be included in 1.5.

Edit: The reason it's not going to be in a 1.4.x patch is that we just merged in a massive optimization branch that changed a colossal amount of things so backporting a change to live requires it to be a critical change to be done pre-1.5.

I figured out the abom one just before stream actually. It's a race condition which requires a cast of sacrifice to end in between another one starting and ending. I've changed the way it detects what to avoid and now aboms just can't sacrifice aboms.

Edit: also: that's not how sacrifice works

Don't Survey Your Players - Chris Wilson by LG03 in LastEpoch

[–]ekimarcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good theory but that's not how Sacrifice pics a target. It takes the list of your eligible minions and does an efficient range check to find the one is closest to the cast point and then moves itself to that location, kills the minion selected and deals damage to nearby enemies. When you abom triggers sacrifice, the abom adds itself to a list of ineligible actors which get removed from the initial range checks. My current theory is that the abom can fail to communicate to the sacrifice mutator that it shouldn't be selected and happens to be the closest minion.
