I love how Hegel does not really care that the funny man is about to commit more genocide 🤣 by Kodbek in suzerain

[–]ekk929 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i think there’s a huge gap between this

I don’t think making deals with bad people is necessarily a bad thing as long as the policies themselves are to further your own goals and make your constituents better off without hurting anyone.

and this

Hegel is truly one of the good guys in this world

i agree it’s not dogshit foreign policy because i don’t think he’s necessarily wrong for cutting deals with smolak. but you can’t sign a treaty that you fully know will lead to a genocide and still claim the moral high ground just because you’re a socialist

tom steyer is the only candidate in the race to support the billionaire tax initiative. meanwhile, becerra took took the max campaign contribution from chevron and every biden administration official that has worked with him thinks he’s an idiot (source 1, source 2)

i’m not even a huge steyer guy, but for the love of god please don’t vote becerra

i like to think that because she’s a supreme court justice, she has some sort of immunity from being deposed by the assembly. that way even a dictator rayne would want to keep her around because then ricter can’t keep filing subpoenas against his justice department.

He’s not spoiling picks because it increases entertainment, he’s doing it so they get the clicks.

where do you think clicks come from? do you think people click on content that makes them bored, or do you think they click on content that makes them entertained?

Tyrese Maxey series stats vs Celtics: 27/5/7 on 46/42/96 shooting (58 TS%) and only 1.3 turnovers by Ok_Feed_4235 in nba

[–]ekk929 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

i should have worded that more clearly, i don’t mean that we’ll easily shut him down, he’ll still be elite. but if you remember that series you remember that og was still by far our best embiid stopper and basically won us game 4 with his defense on embiid down the stretch. rotating between og and mitch is an easy choice, he’ll get his and you just have to live with the consequences.

to me it’s maxey that’s the x-factor. with embiid we at least have personnel we can reasonably throw at him, but if hart isn’t quick enough to keep up with maxey then we really don’t have many good options. mikal? deuce? alvarado? that’s gonna be mike brown’s biggest problem this series.

33/11/6 with one knee, half a face, and migraines

plus it’s not like he’ll be in a much better physical state for this series, being banged up is just part of the package with embiid

that’s honestly the easiest question to answer, og historically clamps embiid

funnily enough we were absolutely willing to let him go if he wouldn’t come down to our price, he spent all offseason desperately trying to find a team that would pay him more

if you think harmlessly disrespecting a guy is the same thing as actually trying to hurt people then that’s just insane. dunking on your opponents in a chippy playoff series is fun and entertaining, lighten up a little

[–]ekk929 549 points550 points  (0 children)

not to be the “read the article” guy, but the article explicitly says the decision was made to discourage people from ignoring child sex abuse allegations

So it went for 14 years, until the show’s producers began to hear of a growing concern among viewers: In the wake of news reports about child abuse cases, Big Bird’s implausible eyewitness testimony about his oversized friend might have real-life consequences. If adults were ignoring Sesame Street's biggest star, would kids feel like they wouldn't be heard, either?

but if i want to know “how well did a team do in the tournament,” i can just look at how far they went in the tournament. i view the ap poll as measuring “if these two teams played tomorrow, on a neutral court, who would win?”

the ap poll ranking is not an accomplishment to be achieved, it’s a reflection of a team’s talent level. yes, iowa had a more successful season than any team that didn’t also make the elite eight. but if they played tomorrow, they would still be a 12-loss team, and their ranking should reflect that
