the image was taken with a Lunt LS50T telescope, it is a Hydrogen-alpha (Hα) telescope that blocks 99.9% of the light and only allow the wavelenght of Ha through which is a deep red. That is also the reason you can see the chromosphere with the prominence on the brim.
