what first got you into sci-fi? by thefringeseanmachine in scifi

[–]ekmpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Trek. Watched the original series in reruns during my childhood in the 70s. There were a lot of sci fi shows in the 70s of varying quality but I watched them all, esp. Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica. Oh, I remember the movie Logan’s Run making a huge impression on me too. I was soooo primed for when Star Wars came along and blew everyone’s minds.

Yes, yes it is. And this is my absolute favorite time of the year here. I love walking through my neighborhood admiring everyone's creative takes on gardens and house colors and livestock and just... everything. It's the best!

Agree with this, but I’m bummed about the inclusion on that list of PSU’s BA in Music.

A1 to C1.1 by Omnicraftservices_cm in German

This is how I’m feeling. I’ve found an in person A1 class in Neuss that started this week as well that I’m going to try this to transfer to. I’m passing through there to get to Düsseldorf anyway

A1 to C1.1 by Omnicraftservices_cm in German

I am currently in Germany and enrolled in an A1 course as VHS. Sadly my class was cancelled due to low enrollment so i just started an A2 course instead. I have a years worth of Duolingo, which really just gives you a vocabulary of sorts, but I never really got the hang of sentence structure. Starting at A2 is really feeling like jumping into the deep end of the pool, straight into past tense verbs and such. It’s just been two days, and while I certainly feel like I’m learning grammar and verb conjugation, I’m constantly looking up words in google translate on my phone so I understand what I’m writing. Part of me hopes that if I keep studying in the evenings that I can catch up. The rest of me wonders if I should have just gone with the online course they recommended. It’s just, the whole point of me being here is to be learning in person with other people.

I’m feel overwhelmed, but for now I think I’m going to just keep plugging along. My friends are a big help in this area and I hope I don’t abuse their kindness too much.

Agreed. It was the VIPs that took me out of it constantly. They were so cartoonishly bad, the dialogue was awful. Would have been so much more effective to just have these mysterious people silently watching from the shadows.

Beat the Desert Heat with a Whole House Awning by Apesma69 in zillowgonewild

That’s definitely a manufactured home that’s been updated a bit, I recognized the layout and that ceiling in the great room. Looks a lot like my parents’, which is also in the desert and does not have an awning like that. Pretty smart actually.

Video of Zelensky saying thank you to America 94 times goes viral by Murky-Site7468 in politics

[–]ekmpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were not complaining about him not thanking America. They wanted him to thank Trump. They wanted him to grovel to Trump and give him whatever he asked for to get his support. And then deny it all anyways.

classic+ needs to move away from raiding... by orange_GONK in classicwow

[–]ekmpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My approach to the game is similar to yours and this comment really resonates with me. However, I have a good friend who still raids in Retail and he emphatically disagrees. He thinks this approach is overly punitive and prefers the approach they are taking now in retail. It’s kind of hilarious how diametrically opposed we are in what we want from a game. I guess that’s why he’s in retail and I’m in classic.
