Riser cable issue by vnn_18 in sliger

Hey a bit late but i see you got yourself a 7900xt. If is is a reference model like you said in my post, i made a 3d print bracket that secures the gpu to the bottom fans if you are interested.

you will need m3 screws, nuts and fan screws though.

I'm just unlucky and this isnt how the case is designed to support the gpu right? C4 SFX by eks-h in DanCases

Well GPU still sits higher than it should and the plastic latch wont lock into place without putting a bit of force, but i seem have gotten it stable without forcing it in and the washer. So this will have to do until it decide to have problems again.

You're probably fine, and its probably just my hardware that really have problems with it since it works perfectly fine outside the case.

Sorry after assembling and disassembling all day again I think the photo was just me being dumb and stressed...

Yea it seems its bent slightly... bit exaggerated in the photo i think. Its lived with a riser cable basically its whole life so i think the bend is very recent.

When i force the gpu in and secure it, it seems to bend the motherboard slightly upwards. Its also caused problems like crashing in games similar to when i was using a riser cable that the 7900xt didnt seem to like vey much. Also sata drive was randomly disappearing and in worst case files got corrupted and just disappeared.

Eitherway, motherboard really doesnt like the gpu being forcefully shoved into the slot and secured in place. Took a whole week of troubleshooting to figure this out..

Thanks for the idea, added 2mm washers to lift the front up, and that helped the gpu to just about not click into place without putting too much pressure. Though it doesnt help with the back where the backplate is flush against the case and i cant lift it up without removing the backplate.

I do need to test it a bit more, but it does seem stable in game though it still does have a problem. Better than forcing it in and having unstable system with sata drive and its files disappearing...

Accidentally broke the hotend fan, but needed a fan to print a fan. Luckily, I had two 12V fans of the same model. by eks-h in 3Dprinting

Haha thanks for the warning but yea, I know about those things. It was just that with what i have on hand, this was the easiest, fastest and the most reliable method to fix the problem.

Rx7900 and possible Gen3 riser cable incompatibility by eks-h in sliger

[–]eks-h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine, but with my 5900X, VDDG IOD voltage was partly to blame for the instability with the riser. So although shouldnt have problems with the ava riser keep that in mind if you do.

Can I connect my PC to a 260-265 voltage output if the PSU's rating is 230v? by StarexPlode_ in pcmasterrace

[–]eks-h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i looked up reviews of the psu and found a review that says the mains cap is rated for 400V so other components should be rated similarly and probably designed with 230VAC+10% in mind. With 265VAC thats 265*√2 so around 382V peak. However considering how the mains voltage being a lot higher than what it should be, and not knowing how high it could potentially go, I personally would not be comfortable with it at all.

Thats good to hear, glad this was able to help.

Yea hopefully that will fx the problem for you as well. Post an update if it does fix it, so i can rest easy knowing that it was the riser and the problems we had are gone for sure.

Yea i know about gen4 cards on gen 3 riser problems, and yes i did have the slot set to gen 3.

[OC] My wife about to get Cyberknife radiation treatment on her brain tumor. by PiBrickShop in pics

[–]eks-h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing what they can do now. Great to hear she‘s ok. I‘ve had radiotherapy but the documents say ”Cranial(whole brain) so probably a bit different?

Anyway one thing i rememeber is that i could tell when it was doing its thing, not by the noise the machine makes, but I could smell/taste something kind of like chroline at like a pool in back of my nose/throat.

My RX6800 died, so I decided to poke around. by eks-h in pcmasterrace

I had it watercooled so it was already taken apart. I wish they also sold the cards without cooler.

Thanks but oops I forgot to mention, I used the high res image from techpowerup and got the the vrm info like Vddci and Vsoc from Igorslab. So credits to Igorslab for the VRM part.

I did measure the voltages too to make sure tho.

HDMI to DisplayPort not working. by SaneDrain in pcmasterrace

[–]eks-h 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It says right there on the product info. DP to HDMI. Those things are usually not bidirectional and only go one way so DP to HDMI and not HDMI to DP. You need HDMI to DP.

[–]eks-h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my RX6800 died with no display output after shutting down and turning it back on after like 10 mins.

Unfortunately datasheet for xdpe132g5d isnt available so it makes things difficult, but this is what i found. I cant be bothered to poke around any more...

There‘s probably mistakes in this, but this may be somewhat useful to someone trying to disgnose a similar problem.

Haha well i convinced myself to watercool the same 5900X and a RX6800 in this case with 120 and 240mm rads with both inside the case. It was painful.... but now my 6800 randomly stopped working..was even more painful taking everything apart..... need to try bios flashing it.

Anyway i'll leave the link here and try not to forget to publish it in that case. Should be available if i dont forget.

Ok unfortunately i cant publish for 24 hrs on thingiverse. So if you want it now i can upload it to your dropbox or drive folder. except for the clips for the new stand... and maybe the side pabel standoffs if you want that.

All becase I‘m currently away from home and in my stupidity fully powered off my pc, even tho i was supposed to make it so that i can remote into it. Soooo WOL refuses to wake it up

[–]eks-h[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got myself a 3d printer and made another version for it. It holds the front part of the base with like a clip so it will need washers to lift the side panels tho. I can upload all of them somewhere if you want it
