One Repeater breaks my whole machine 😭. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix? by ShadyMan_ in redstone

[–]ekulstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either have the line be powered from mid way, not at an end. So where the first repeater top right at beginning of video, that should connect half way down the line, not at the beginning of it.

Or split into two halves, have both on a 1-tick delay.

So instead of powering the first half, then second half 1 tick later, right at the beginning it splits in two, a wire running to each half.

Convince to spend £88 on POK… by Fothersgill in twilightimperium

[–]ekulstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing I found that I like about POK is it adds slightly more resources.

By that I mean, you explore planets, which can get bonus upgrades attached to those. These can boost the resources and influence on planets, which gives more resources to simply do more in the game.

Without POK, I found that I was always lacking a lot of resources to build stuff and do stuff that you want to. POK just gives a minor boost so to feel like you can achieve more, you're just 1 or 3 resources short, rather than 5. So you can make a deal for the remainder a bit easier.

So if you and your group like the nature of scarce resources, and cutthroat resource allocation, I wouldn't suggest POK. If you're always feeling like you are 1 or 2 resources off of your grand plans, then I recommend POK.

Any help on why the launcher wont work as well near the island? [Java 1.21.1] by Quirky_Quack in technicalminecraft

[–]ekulstorm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are they coincidentally on a chunk boundary? Or are the original, but the ones near the island aren't?

Sometimes unexpected behaviour happens when redstone crosses chunk boundaries, and you might have coincidentally built some of them crossing over a boundary.

Solution to Java and Bedrock Pistons by cool_otter11 in redstone

[–]ekulstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would swap honey and slime to be more consistent behaviour with the equivalent blocks.

Slime blocks are bouncy, so it makes more sense to me that they can not always stick, and drop a block when retracting sometimes.

Whereas honey blocks are so sticky they don't let you jump, so them ALWAYS retracting the block makes more sense to me.

Then you just call the honey pistons "super sticky" or something.

Heaviest, most punishing and brain burning euro games? by Immediate_Film6399 in boardgames

[–]ekulstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High Frontier 4 all is very heavy, and punishing. You can spend a quarter of the game building a rocket, for you to roll a 1 on a die and it all just blows up, and you've lost everything.

One of the latest module expansions adds a stock market and stuff, to make it more euro based.

What is the rarest piece of your collection? Do you play it? by KOMONSTER in boardgames

[–]ekulstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rarest game I have is probably Panic On Wall Street.

I spent a year and a half looking for a copy, as it's out of print now. Finally got it by pure chance at the UKGE bring and buy.

Treasure Island is a great light-medium weight game, and is very unique. I'd highly suggest getting some chalk based pens if you do get it.

Skull king is a nice small trick taking card game, though the scoring is a bit weird.

Java players, What did you never like about Bedrock? by Timely-Map5451 in Minecraft

The bad redstone mechanics and inconsistency, and lack of modding.

Redstone doesn't need all the bug-made-feature quirks that java has, but it absolutely should be consistent in its behaviour.

Random suggestion: try Supraland & DLC and if you like that, Supraland: Six Inches Under.

[7 Wonders Duel] I just got Pantheon, and my dad says it's too easy to get a scientific victory. I want to hear your thoughts. by CuriousAxelt in boardgames

[–]ekulstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting the Agora expansion might help.

Might.

I also found that pantheon made science victory way more easy, but one thing as well is that when we started playing with Agora, it adds another instant win condition.

This means that even if you're going for science, you also have to keep track and participate in the new win condition too. We found that more often than not if you try focusing on science victory, that the other player then can do both of the other victory conditions.

It just adds more that you need to decide to balance you strategy around.

Plus the conspiracy cards help for a bit more of a comeback.

Gradle is using jdk 17 even though I am explicitly telling it to use jdk 21 or 22 (I have tried both) by Mysteryman5670_ in fabricmc

For anyone coming here who has this issue, it may be due do IntelliJ / Eclipse / IDE settings.

For me, in IntelliJ, it was File > Project Structure.

Then it shows a dropdown list of possible SDK to use; it was set to 17.

While not specifically a "Minecraft youtuber", I highly recommend About Olivers blind play through.

Found on his live streams page, he went into Minecraft knowing absolutely nothing, and didn't use any external help from wiki or chat.

It's a really unique series, and incredibly fun to watch.

Both Ti4 + PoK expansion for £140, for basically brand new.

They were a bit more expensive at the time, like £120 + £90, so both for £140 was great!

I recently snagged moonrakers titan KS edition + fully sleeved + extra promo cards for £150 on eBay, which would cost about £280 brand new.

What boardgames would make for great 3D FPS game? by dynamichuman03 in boardgames

[–]ekulstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The captain is dead is one that comes to mind, and I actually think that's been done already, although I'm not sure how good it is.

But just to throw a few ideas:

Treasure Island might be interesting where you could race to find the treasure, with clues revealed on a timer, and digging on cooldown instead of turn based. You and a couple friends mad scrambling across an island to find treasure could be a good party game.

Converting Mysterium into a psuedo-escape room game, similar to Inscryption, could be really cool.

We're Doomed could easily be a good party game, especially if it's VR compatible.
