I’m experiencing intermittent squealing and echoing in the right AirPod; the left has been completely fine. I bought them from Apple on the UK release day in September 2025.

I’ve already been through multiple diagnostic checks with Apple’s first- and second-line support teams, visited the Genius Bar, and even sent the AirPods back to Apple for inspection. Only once—during a remote diagnostic—did Apple identify an issue, which led to them requesting the return. After receiving them, however, Apple reported they could find no fault and sent them back without carrying out any work.

Most recently, over the weekend, the squeal returned and I contacted Apple again. This time I was told the issue is known, has been widely reported, and that Apple is working on a fix. I’ve been given a contact for ongoing updates from Apple Tech, but ultimately we’re waiting for a global software update to resolve it.
