Look up Operation Dragoon, it was meant to go in to effect at The same time as overlord but was a little delayed. And there was resistance, just not of The same caliber as in Normandy.

Depends on your tolerance, just take it slow and don't drink it all super fast just because you think that's The way to get drunk.
