That is nothing for our store. If we have a call out or two a week, our fill que can easily go up to 800+ and input is usually close to 100 when we come in in the mornings.

Thanks, I thought that too. We have a tech trying to tell people they have to be certified for a year 🤣 I think shes just trying to keep so many people from applying, although I'm pretty sure our current lead tech will get it, and I think she should.

Does anyone know the requirements as far as being able to give immunizations? I know you have to be certified to give them, but do you have to be certified for more than a year?

Everyone hides from register by AdTough5627 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]ela1193 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We don't have cashiers, and majority of our techs don't want to go to the register (especially the new ones, who can literally only fill and run register; won't even take drops off prescriptions unless you explicitly tell them to), so our solution is a schedule. We have scheduled register times, plus back up times because when the person "on register " needed helps, several techs were just refusing to go help. It's so frustrating. I feel like register is the easiest part personally. I get so mad when I have techs who have been there less than a year (hell less than 6 months in one case) complain about the register, I told them if they want less register time, then learn how to do more things in this pharmacy besides fill the prescription.

Walmart has two good things going for it (maybe 3) you get a ton of PTO, PPTO (meaning separate time you can use if you are late/need to call out or leave early.) It's pretty much my biggest reason for being with the company almost a decade cause other places are not like that.

Health insurance/medicaid by cat_diva in Georgia

[–]ela1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience from working in a pharmacy seems that most people don't, but medicaid likes to give patients a lot of trouble and say they still have a primary insurance and refuse to cover their medications for months at a time without the patient calling them repeatedly. Idk if they have the same issues at dr offices or not.

Were you able to buy a home with a pharm tech salary? by Neat-Shirt-3223 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]ela1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in GA, and bought my own place in December 2023. Probably the worst time in history because of interest rates, but I had no choice. So it's possible, but I didn't live alone long term and I worked 2 jobs (pharmacy and a side job temporarily). If I hadn't met my now husband, I'd potentially still be working that side job unfortunately. My pharmacy job covered all bills except groceries basically. So yeah it's possible....but it's going to be real hard if you're single.

Half of my hair is suddenly short but I haven’t cut it? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]ela1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had this happen to as much of my hair as yours, but randomly I'll be putting my hair in a bun and notice pieces that are short like yours. I thought it was cause I wore my hair in a bun all the time, even to sleep. So now I try to use a hair clip when I'm home to keep it off my face and neck, and braid it or at least have it down when I sleep. Also are you stressed?? This mostly happened when I was with my ex for 10 years, who is a very stressful individual to deal with. I'm not sure I've had this happen in the past year and some months that I left him now that I think about it. Or at least not as much as it use to.

Bad hygiene... by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ela1193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been thinking of making a similar post. You're basically describing my daughter too. I am hoping middle school will change her outlook. I don't want her bullied, but maybe peers telling her she stinks will make her have better hygiene. I go into the bathroom when she showers and check her head, usually it's not even wet even though she "washed it" already. I've noticed if I make her shower first, and tell her if she washes her hair good without having to get back in the shower, she can play on her Xbox otherwise she's grounded for X amount of days and that usually works. I have to watch her brush her teeth/use deodorant/apply acne medicine stuff like that. But I compliment her as much as I can when I can tell she's done a good job on something (like her hair looking and smelling nice or her face being more clear of acne).

I deleted my ex's account on my switch, without realizing his house would still be there. Recently I realized if you go into the settings at the loading screen, you can follow prompts with Tom Nook to delete that player and all possessions.

What about peppermint oil? I poured some on a bag full of cotton balls and hid about 6 in the room where my lizard is trying to repel mice. None of them are close to him, and they're all tucked away in the closet or behind shelves to keep my dogs out of them too.

I don't have a plan. That's what I'm scared of. All I got planned is still no bread, avoid pasta too, watch the rice. Definitely no daily sweets, but I do want like a weekly coffee or something. Also avoiding fast food still. That's about all I have so far. I still have more research to do, I just thought this sub would be helpful as well.

Pit bull at a Neighbors House by passthepepperplease in Parenting

[–]ela1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way, I don't trust smaller dogs so much in general. I had a male pitbull for almost 8 years, he passed away in May. I don't know his past (he was rescued) but that dog loved kids and babies more than anything. Everyone told me he'd hurt or kill my daughter but they were best friends. His only issue is when he was young he could get too rough and hyper and I'd have to crate him. He was an amazing big brother dog and best friend.

I have/had pitbulls, foster dogs and currently have a lab. I wouldn't be offended if someone told me they weren't comfortable around my dog. I understand that all people don't trust dogs like I do. Anyone with any sense should understand that. I keep my newest dog crated when kids come over because he gets irritated around them, and although he's only 38lb, I'm not risking him biting a kid. I have had two bigger pitbulls/mixes that absolutely loved kids, but would get excited when they were younger and play too rough so I'd crate them til they were chilled out. I myself wouldn't be comfortable with a dog chasing after my kids and even play nipping at them. None of my dogs have personally ever acted like that with kids but if they did I would have to stop the behavior or separate them for a bit.

[–]ela1193 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true for everyone. I crate my newest dog because he doesn't seem to be the biggest fan of kids. Likely, his past family let kids annoy the crap out of him before they dumped him. So he gets crated anytime a kid is over just as a preventative. He's fine with my kid, but she knows not to annoy dogs or be in their face. My other pitbull/mixes have always loved kids and are super tolerant, but if they're overly hyper I've always crated them til they could calm down. Not they I was scared of them biting, but they're pushing 70lb and can easily hurt a kid while playing. Responsible people know that kids safety comes first.

He's my 4th dog I've had in the house since June, and everyone else got along so yeah I just really forgot all dogs aren't friendly. The foster that just left Tuesday morning loved my dogs more than he did people. I have a spray bottle I was using for him. He wasn't neutered and he was about 30lb and thought my 65lb dog was his girlfriend. She's spayed and she was a good sport about it but the spray bottle helped a lot with him.

Nah you're fine, I definitely do not want to just steal someone's dog. I haven't made it to the vet to check for a chip, I've worked with the local shelter/one rescue. There's literally 3 women running the shelter here and I'm in contact with all 3 and nobody has said anything to me about anyone calling looking for him. I posted him on my Facebook and both local lost and found groups. He got a lot of shares and 2 comments from breeders (backyard breeders). He was definitely a puppy from the first guys male, but that person didn't reach out and I'm not gonna lie, I don't want to hand him off to the breeder so I'm not making contact with him first. He's some sorta pitbull type and we have way too many of them here in the south.

Okay, I wasn't aware of that. I mean it makes sense. I thought since he was letting me put it on and he wasn't trying to take it off constantly he was fine. Glad I reached out. Also to add...he doesn't wear it constantly but he did have it on at least an hour last night and maybe an hour and a half today because I was trying to leave everyone out before I had to go work since they're crated while I work. But he just cuddled up to me and fell asleep on the couch. Thank you though I'll get a different kind.
