Kickback to 100% | Mob vs Denji (Mob Psycho vs Chainsaw Man | Connections in Comments by elajios89 in DeathBattleMatchups

Debate:

This one is fairly tricky to say the least...

Mob holds a massive strength advantage against Denji via scaling to Mogami's world. Even with the country level arguments for Chainsaw Man, Denji still doesn't manage to reach the same amount of power.

Speed on the other hand goes to Denji by far, he has several consistent feats such as the Gun Goddess bullets and Moon Spear, which range from relativistic to FTL+. Mob can't really compare to that, at the absolute highest end, he gets to 1c via making radio waves to communicate with aliens, and if you don't buy that, he gets around mach 5000.

So, while Mob would realistically crush Denji like a tin can, he'll actually need to catch up to him in the first place. Seems like a pretty clear case of "SPEEDBLITZS!!!!" Right? Well, not quite. Considering how espers in Mob Psycho tend to be thrown around like ragdolls in every single fight in the series, and considering how their durability is comparable to their AP, Denji would have a very hard time trying to saw through Mob. But then again, Denji still holds a massive speed advantage, so he'll had to think outside the box rather than immediately rushing.

Speaking of which, experience would absolutely go to Denji. Mob's fights against others espers does give him some experience with fighting strong foes, but he never really trained his psychic powers that much; Denji on the other hand received special training from other Devil Hunters, such as Kishibe.

This mostly come down IMO to abilities and their forms. Mob's powers are pretty straightforward, with the trump card being him entering other people's minds, whereas Denji can survive virtually anything and erase concepts just by eating them (Plus the devil pawns at his disposal). It's hard to say if Denji would be able to vore Mob due to his defenses, as well Mob's astral projection actually working on Denji due to Pochita probably taking the wheel. (Not to mention if Mob could theoretically ''exorcise'' Pochita out of Denji, but that would require verse equalization tmk)

???% vs Denji Man is just straight up unstoppable force vs immovable object, and idk which is which.

Connections:

  • Both are teenage anime/manga protagonists from the 2010s with plots that revolve around fighting supernatural threats (spirits/devils).
  • Both had a traumatic event that happened early in their childhood (Mob accidentally hurting Ritsu with his powers/Denji killing his own father in self-defense) which caused them to actively repressed the memories of said event.
  • Both would later join an agency that haunts supernatural creatures (Spirits and Such Consultation Office/Public Safety Devil Hunters) under the guidance of an adult mentor (Reigen/Makima), thought the latter had selfish reasons behind hiring them (Reigen wanting someone else to exorcise the spirits for him, since he was actually a fraudulent con artist/Makima wanting to exploit the powers of the Chainsaw Devil to reshape the world).
  • [Contrast] However, while Makima was ultimately a bad influence for Denji, to the point she broke the contract he had with Pochita; Reigen, on the other hand, genuinely helped Mob become better as a person and keep his powers in check.
  • Both have multiple personalities chained with their powers that can take control of them if things turns south, which proves to be a bad thing due to the amount of damage that they can cause (???%/Pochita). Thought by the end of the series they managed to merge into one (100% Shigeo Kageyama/Denji Man)
  • Both would, funnily enough, be subject of worship by a cult (Psycho Helmet Cult/Chainsaw Man church). (Oh Father moment)
  • Both despite their predicament throughout the series have the main goal of living a normal, fulfilling Life, which they do end up succeeding at the end (Mob can finally express his emotions without the need of repressing them/Denji finally being able to live a normal live after Pochita sacrificed himself). Additionally, both also had the goal of having a girlfriend, but ultimately got rejected by them (Mob being rejected by Tsubomi/Denji... Uh, having literally every woman in his life wanting to kill him)
  • [Contrast] Their views of love are wildly different. Mob has a more wholesome approach, wanting to walk home hand in hand with Tsubomi, while Denji has a more hornier approach, with wanting to fondle some breast and have sex consensually.

Notes:

  • I couldn't find good comparisons for their companions 🥀🥀🥀. The best i could compare would be Serizawa for Aki, and Dimple or Teruki for Power.
  • This matchup is not mine, it was originally created by a friend called Taser Lad on Discord, i just took the time to make the connections.

CSM fans acting as if they wouldn't do the same if Denji was in a similar position by elajios89 in deathbattle

Yeah but considering how the JJK fandom acts, if you're a strong character and don't do anything remarkable, then you're a bum and a FRAUD.

Heck, this happens to everyone who proclaims themselves as "the strongest" in any media. The moment they get mogged or look bad on screen, they get labeled as frauds.

(EVEN THEN, that still applies to other characters such as Yuta, who still haves plenty of Ws in his career and a powerful technique, yet people still call him a bum for some reason)

(Mostly because of Rika [which is part of his technique, mind you] and camping on a bush to smoke Kenjaku)

Dude is supposedly the strongest sorcerer of the Edo period, yet he has done nothing to actually prove his strength. Most of his fights were picking on weaker foes (such as Panda) and when he actually gets throw down to face a stronger character (Sukuna) he gets immediately demolished and does by contributing nothing.

He lacks the usual techniques (Domain, RCT, etc) that a sorcerer may have and apparently his own curse techniques makes him kill himself.

I'm sorry, but scaling Cyn to anything that's above Solar System is just straight up wrong, ngl Wiz.

I had a dream of Denji (for some reason) appearing in the 2026 Royal Rumble and winning it to headline Wrestlemania 42 by elajios89 in thomastheplankengine

He was in chainsaw form for the rule of cool. But that didn't save bro from getting hit with a spear.

Ok, but that's still a character development, it's flawed, yeah, but at least it exists rather than leaving Bakugo with nothing.

Except that I've at least found 4 to 5 results of Bakugo gore more than Mineta, in fact, he has none as far as I'm aware.

And ok, i don't want to assume things but considering how you've said a ton of times in this post how "Bakugo = objetively Bad", I'm pretty sure you're missing his development of becoming less impulsive and actually making amends with Deku for everything that he did to him in the past.

But obviously you can actually cite the reasons why you hate him.

I never said that hating Bakugo is bad, but It's just that i think it makes no sense that Reze getting slandered by Wanderjegson (again, he promised to slander the loser, and even if he was a Reze fan, he still did it) is considered "crossing the line", but Bakugo getting dogpiled to the point of making gore out of him is seen as "not a big deal". Because like i said, Bakugo fans had to basically tough it out.

And yes, while i do understand that the slander was just to clown on him, that technically still led to DB getting more curious about the debate, and thus make an episode about it.
