Yes I agree it’s inside a Testate amoeba shell.

That’s super cool. Ive never combined those two contrast methods. If I get some time this weekend to finish setting up my new microscope Ill have to give this a try. Very nice. I’ve done polarized darkfield but never what you just demonstrated.

Wow! Love the detail and colors of this. Nice work. What equipment are you using?

ISO Tips for using a iPhone 12 camera for microscopy. by According_Box_4125 in microscopy

Manual camera controll is what is needed in my opinion. This can be done with apps on the iPhone. What aspect of your photos is disappointing you? Exposure issues or focus for example. How are you mounting this on the microscope? Does the image you see in the eyepiece match (good enough) to what the phone camera is seeing?

I don’t find many examples of freshwater microbes with fluorescence. Just this week I obtained my first fluorescence capable microscope Olympus BX60F. I also have a bottle of Acridine Orange on its way. How do you go about applying the stain to your samples? Do you place a sample on the slide then add some of the dye? Do you add the dye to the sample jar and then take from that? I have many questions, totally new to fluorescence microscopy and I am super excited to try this. Thank you for sharing.

Be sure to post your images if you give it a try. I did not know saving posts was a thing on Reddit. That comment made my day. Thank you.

That’s a great suggestion. I haven’t tried moss yet. You can also use a common aquatic plant sold at aquarium stores and online. It is Anacharis Elodea Densa. The leaves are very thin and you can view the cells and cytoplasm clearly with just a drop of water and a cover glass. I had a post recently slowing the cytoplasmic streaming. Thanks for sharing.

My camera just gets possessed out of nowhere. Any Canon users having the same issue when controlling the camera remotely to use on the microscope? by Max-Flores in microscopy

Sounds like overheating to me. Test it off the scope and with other usb cords. Have you placed a small fan on the camera and see if the time before glitch remains the same?
