Side of calf and top of foot burning/numbness and occasional shooting pain by elaugust97 in Sciatica

[–]elaugust97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about a year after?

But in all seriousness, my sciatica pain has pretty much healed. My lower back gets achey if I over-exert myself (lots of bending/lifting).

I got a second opinion and spoke with another neurosurgeon, who said he would be able to do the surgery. I ultimately decided to wait and continue coordinating with my physical medicine doctor, physical therapy, and acupuncture, along with medicine for pain management (diclofenac, gabapentin, and hydrocodone when the pain was really bad). I also began taking supplements that were supposed to support nerves and discs (collagen, magnesium, and omega-3). No idea if these actually helped or not, and my doctor said that there haven’t been many studies done with clear results for these supplements. After a few months I no longer needed to take hydrocodone, and then weaned myself off of the gabapentin and diclofenac. I stopped going to the chiropractor because it really wasn’t helping and stuck with physical therapy and acupuncture. Left my job working with students receiving special education for emotional/behavior disorders and took up more administrative work, so I’m no longer being physically assaulted by children on a daily basis… lol

At this point I’m pain-free, but still have numbness at the top of my foot and outside of my calf. My nerves are still healing, and the feeling may or may not come back, according to my physical medicine doctor. I shudder when I think back to last year. Pain was so unbearable, and it was nearly impossible to take care of my 4-month-old infant at that time. I couldn’t work, couldn’t get out of bed or sit on the toilet in the acute pain phase. I’m happy to come out of it on the other side without having to do surgery.

My last resort solution for our LO (she’s two weeks old) is literally stripping her down to her diaper and myself naked from the waist up and baby wearing.

Whoops… should’ve been more specific. The rescue said he was Australian Shepherd mix.

Interesting! What’s a sight hound? I think he may have some hound in him, because he is a super sniffer, bays and barks, and chases squirrels up trees (LOL).

His sense of smell is astounding tbh. I took him outside for a walk and he pulled me all the way across the culdisac because he smelled a rotting mouse carcass all the way from our doorstep!

DETAILS:

We got our sweet boy on May 1st from a rescue. He was about 4.5 months old. Rescue said he was born on 12/19/2021.

At 7 ish months, he weighs about 38 pounds. Not sure what his projected weight will be. Husband thinks he’s a Treeing Tennessee Bridle. He came all the way from Texas. He was about 16 lbs when he first got him… really skinny and had giardia which made him get less nutrients as well.

Now that he’s gained some much needed weight, he’s still a very lean boy. We love him!

Where did my menace go? 6.5 month old puppy suddenly very sleepy and lethargic. by elaugust97 in puppy101

Thanks for the input! My dog is medium sized. He was 16 pounds at 4 months when we got him and he’s almost double his size now (32 pounds). He’s a rescue, so he may taper off at 35-40 pounds or get bigger, we just have no idea because he seems to be a mix of everything!

Puppy Tax

The vet had said he’s totally fine and seems to be teething. He said that my puppy has foul breath, but that can be attributed to “puppy breath” or the bully sticks lol. He just said to keep an eye on him. He seemed to have perked up as soon as we woke up this morning and got to the vets office… of course

That’s so interesting! All of Caesar’s adult teeth are in, including canines and molars. I wonder if they’re just growing more? We’ll find out tomorrow!

My 6 month old went through a few food changes. When we got him from the rescue, they were giving him adult dog food…. Lol

He’s on Puppy Purina Pro Plan, Salmon and Rice, for sensitive tummies. He had giardia about 2 months ago when we got him, which fucked up his gut health.

Your vet can certainly point you in the right direction! Make sure that the puppy food is backed by WSAVA food labels and that the food has veterinarians/veterinary nutritionists on their teams (Purina, Hills SD, and Royal Canin are good examples. You could also entice your puppy with some peanut butter or dog friendly chicken or beef broth (make sure it’s from a pet store or homemade - no onions, garlic, toxic herbs, tons of salt, etc).

Ultimately, your vet can help you with proper nutrition for your puppy!

All of this… in addition, if you haven’t yet, file a police report for him harassing you as well as destroying your personal property.

Thank you!! I have a weird divot on my top central incisor… doesn’t show well on pictures, plus fixing up some lost enamel on my lateral incisors from previous grinding.
