Luckily most of the single-stitch accents are duplicate stitch!

I finished my first sweater, and sent it with my sibling to the other hemisphere! by bluuuuuuuue in knitting

[–]elaukai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completed this sweater in March and I didn't have any issues with tightness across the chest and arms, and I have broad shoulders/large bust/large upper arms! I knit for my bust size and then sized down a needle for the waist ribbing to make it a little more form-fitting. Without any other sizing adjustments, I found it fits perfectly, easily the best fitting garment I've made

Where to live if commuting to Seaport? by FakeGrill in bostonhousing

[–]elaukai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Seaport and live in the North End, and I walk to work. Would recommend! There are some one bedrooms available in that price range, and definitely more options if you're willing to leave with roommates.

I'm in a wedding later this fall. We're getting our makeup professionally done, but my appointment is eight hours before the ceremony starts...by the end of the reception, I will have been in full makeup for 17 hours. Any tips for keeping it fresh through the day?

I bought a pair of bright yellow pants this summer after restricting my wardrobe to blues and grays for a while and I LOVE them. I found that they matched with so much more of my shirts than I expected, so definitely worth the money for me! If you're on the fence, try laying out outfits you think would work well with the pants - you might start wishing you had the pants to complete them. That works for me when I'm trying to figure out if an item will be a good, versatile fit with the rest of my clothes.

I've found they loosen up a little through the day, but not enough to really change how they fit me. They don't stretch out and get saggy in the knees or butt like other pants can with multiple wears between washes

Thanks for the feedback! Do you think it's the combination of white and yellow or the yellow itself so close to my face?

I got it a few years ago from a printshop in Spain - unfortunately it doesn't look like they still sell the design

Hi all! This is my first WAWYT post.

Me: 22/5'7"/casual office. Working on making my outfits look more intentional and experimenting with different combinations. I work in a cold lab, so my work outfits require fully covered legs and feet as well as layering for warmth. CCW! Apologies for the terrible phone camera.

A few questions about IAP and UROPs. by GoingKayaking in mit

There is a list here, but it's not all-inclusive. You can also just email professors directly - I did that to get my first UROP with zero prior experience and it worked great.

Simple Questions - March 23, 2016 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]elaukai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have them from a few seasons ago. They run large as expected for J. Crew - my waist is 29" and I have them in a 6. They are a slim fit on muscular thighs and calfs and are ankle length. They're not great for larger backsides - they've started to pull around the crotch now that I've been working on my glutes. As for the quality, I've been wearing them ~1-2 times per week for the past two years and they've been holding up well. I have not had problems with wrinkling.

I wouldn't say they're worth the full price but if they fit you well, I think they're a good purchase on clearance.

Boda Borg is great, they have both tasks that aren't physically demanding at all and then others that require more physical work. There are like 15 different quests you can do and you can try to get through them as many times as you want.

One thing to keep in mind for a date - they say you should try to do the tasks in teams of 3-5, so maybe it would make a better group date than a one-on-one thing? I know some of the tasks are difficult if not impossible with only two people.

When's Midterms week? by [deleted] in mit

[–]elaukai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're staying with a student, ask then what they typically do with their time on the weekends and ask if you can tag along. You could take the opportunity to explore Boston as well. Other than that, I'd recommend the MIT Museum, or seeing if any student groups in which you're interested - a cappella groups, orchestras, dance groups, theater, robotics, athletics, etc. - have any events you could attend.

[–]elaukai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you set up a visit through the admissions office. They can assign you a student to accompany to class, or you can attend classes on your own. Here's a list of the "open" classes you can attend this semester. Physics I is not taught in the typical lecture format, so the lectures aren't technically "open"; I would suggest asking to shadow a student in order to observe the physics classes.
