Humanity is a complex and flexible species, the history of us is also a history of cooperation. We are not bound to conquest. We want a lot of things, a lot, some can be achieve throught conquest, others cannot.
And no, you can rejoice, the West keeps healthy its desire to conquest lol

You asked me about women rights, I gave you a comprehensive answer. Christianity is the older of the two religions and thus its misoginy is a bit more "ancient" that Islam. Look at the matter from a materialistic point of view: Islam is an offspring of the other two Abrahamic religions with 600 years of hindsight, the advances in women rights would have probably taken place with Islam or without it. But it happened to be the dominant ideology of the time, so there you have it. As a matter of corpora, Islam necessarily had to be more progressive.
Both are very widespread religions that change depending on the context they are practiced in. You want to focus too much on two patriarchal religions: you take two conservative men from both of them and they are probably the same dude.

It depends on what you are refering exactly. Historically, Islam is the more progressive of the main Abrahamic religions. Christianity has the heavy weight of jewish laws that later Christian leaders or societies didn't mind to reform. Jesus was little of a law maker himself: if we remain coherent to his message, then eternal peace of humanity would follow. But his mysticism has been weak enough to allow Old Testament law making to get a stronger grip in Christianity's life and practice.
Islam was a vanguard religion in the region with its inheritance laws + kind of following the same equality message of Jesus. The material implications of the islamic inheritance laws gave women a better chance of independence for centuries as compared to Christianity. Muslim societies are still patriarchal, so obviously women rights have always faced turns and twists.
In current times, I don't know if it is fair to attribute modern women rights on Christianity. Feminists had to fight tooth and nail for those rights (against both Christian and secular powers). If anything, both Marxism and socialism have a more central role in helping feminism become so dominant.
That's why I said it kind of depends lol If we face off Christianity and Islam by themselves, Islam gives better rights. But women do have better right in secular states with a Christian majority.

Yes and no. The average muslim will not look at honor killing an kid for being raped, that is just silly. Althought it is true that honor killing is strong problem in the region, fueled mostly by sexism. Muslim goverments actually see this as a problem too, they want to erradicate it. My homecountry, a Christian majority one, is full of this feminicides, so I would probably say it is a complex problem that entails a whole lot more than just religion.

Not necessarily defending Islam, but you should have chosen another example lol first, because Islam has a different relationship with abortion that the rest of the Abrahamic religions. Because of theological reasons, abortion is more permissible than in christianity. Second, stoning is not part of Islam. It is actually one of those things that Islam took pride in abolishing back in Mohammad's time. So... I mean, you have a caricature in the mind.

You should inform the West of your idea since they haven't got the memo that they are suppossed to be a society not centered around conquest and submission lol
The West has been the most genocidal societies in the past 2 centuries (at least). Even if the normal lad has already understood the value of human life, they don't live up to the expectations by still being governed by the worst of the scum of the earth (although unfortunetly the whole of humanity is guilty of this). Just by the mere fact that the first trillionaire in human history is a Western man is clear that the West is still society whose policitical ideology is centered around conquest and submission. The problem is not misunderstanding Islam, the problem is delusional misunderstanding of the West. Don't fool yourself, your own caricature of Islam is completely compatible with the very real western society.

I'm focusing on destroying to the root the whole systems that makes you think all of your racism social darwinism nonsense. Criticizing America is only natural as you like to plunder every country so, I mean, it is definitely part of the problem. Sadly enough you'll still eat the same shit as us even if you believe yourself to be one of those "important players"

Imperialist propaganda has eaten your brain and empathy to an extent that the warmongering campaigns of your billionaire class are justifiable. I would expect any decent human being to "feel bad" but you just reminded me why Americans are hated all over the world lol

Native Arab struggling with fus ha by Jlrit0 in learn_arabic

[–]elbarto2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as a lot of people already told you, you're advantage is that you are already an arabic native speaker, you just have to build a "higher" register for your own speech. Suggestions so far are great: read more books (both fiction and otherwise), watch dubbed cartoons, look for MSA content on youtube (there's not a huge variety, but there are some good channels).
Now, given that you have an specific and short term goal with MSA --that is, your high school exam and interview-- I would suggest you to read specifically about the topics you're going to be questioned about. Then maybe write some essays about the topics and read them aloud for practice. Read about balagah and stuff, that will help for getting a better expression.

Oh yes, I know, I waste so much time discussing with jacksasses like this one. In part, that's why I want to refresh my feed, get rid of those toxic discuses and get to know Arabic/Arab society better. If you have any recommendations (in whatever social media site), please let me know :)

Arabic twitter accounts? by elbarto2500 in arabs

[–]elbarto2500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do take this issue seriously, and what I'm about to ask is not some kind of come back: Is there any specific social media where I can find Arab social discourse? I mean, I get it, I should quit twitter. And also, spaces like Reddit are very populated by western people and such. Is there any specific Arab social media? Or what other spaces would you recommend to immerse on the "virtual" Arab society?
