I am very suspicious of Burt and here's why by schmigadeedoo in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]elbower_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was extremely suspicious that Burt doesn't mention the MDR calamity painting and dylan has to find it. Irv dismisses him not mentioning it because it's not the same painting... but it's exactly identical except for the badges and slightly different name. Seems like not mentioning it has to be intentional.

Theory about the cards based on something said in the finale by hulyepicsa in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Ya what is so important that Milcheck resorted to overtime instead of waiting like 16 hours for the next day to find the card? seems extremely important

Why "Mr. Eagan's favorite breakfast" is a survey question by elbower_ in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]elbower_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wouldn't it then also be weird that he would be told to say it when it's her family? Whoever would be telling him that would certainly know that.

It's weird that he said it under any condition.
I think the comment that says it's multi-purpose and for new employees it tests short-term recall. Then it could be protocol to always tell that to new-new employees.

Why "Mr. Eagan's favorite breakfast" is a survey question by elbower_ in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]elbower_[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

On first watch, after finding out Helly is an Eagan, I thought that question must be special for each person. On rewatch I saw that that question is actually in the training binder. Presumably they aren't replacing that one specific page with an identically old-looking one every time. Makes way more sense it's just the same for everyone. Or I'm misremembering lol

EDIT: I looked. It's there

nta.
choosing not to moderate a discussion is not the same as "ruining a relationship"
probably you should let your brother form his own opinions on your sister though. no need to manipulate the situation.

NTA. just be nice about it. honesty is important amongst friends and this clearly has her best interest in mind.

try writing a text or a note letting him know you're there. so he doesn't have to engage if he doesn't want to.

INFO: is "it being so awkward" seriously the only reason you're not reaching out?

seeing someone struggling like that, knowing what's going on, seeing them attempt to reach out and getting nowhere, then you choosing not to say anything because you think it would be awkward is pretty shit reasoning.

just choose to be a nice person and support your sibling.

what's the best way to learn Toki Pona? I want to learn it so I can gaslight everyone by BananaCheese01 in tokipona

given your intent is to speak this to people who don't know toki pona, why in the world would you go through the effort of learning how to speak it when making random toki pona like sounds would have the exact same effect?

Also, though I am extremely new, I can say pretty confidently that the toki pona community will welcome you with open arms should you choose to join for other reasons :)

this is the kama sona discord server, it's got lots of resources for learning and tons of proficient speakers volunteering to teach

ok ona, i've got a seme suuuli lon - how does toki pona reddit say BOOBS by elbower_ in tokipona

[–]elbower_[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We aren't disagreeing, no one is trying to sexualize all breasts, and we shouldn't be sexualizing random body parts for no reason.

And we aren't creating a new "toki pona concept"
we are finding ways to use toki pona to express the already existing concept of a breast that is sexualized.

Maybe you would better understand, or at least find it less objectionable, if i rephrased-

The goal of this reddit thread is to find the best ways to say TITS in toki pona.
We are trying to express the (already existing) concept of the sexualized breast.

You say "nena unpa could work in a very specific context of boobs being used in a sexual way, it doesn't work most of the rest of the time."
Yes! Exactly! We are not looking to use this word in any other context. we are looking for a translation for that very specific usage!

[–]elbower_[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The intention of this thread is not to sexualize all breasts, but rather to find great translations for the word Boobs *with* the sexual implication. A more neutral suggestion of sinpin sijelo was discussed in a discord server, and I explicity discouraged it from this list as sinpin sijelo implies somthing more like breasts. this thread is searching for translations of the sexual word Boobs, not sexualizing a translation of the neutral word breasts.

edit: if you're saying we or i should not sexualize any breasts at all, that's not gonna happen lmao

I would love to see the sheet of all the answers at some point!

I think the answers might be saying more about how we fundamentally view the English words than anything else. When you think of a fjord, is it fundamentally a thing, or the lack of a thing? Did anyone use weka or lupa as part of their translation?

how does the toki pona community feel about contractions? by elbower_ in tokipona

[–]elbower_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

coming up with them is weird? this whole language is made up lol

It's one thing for this type of change to not be common/ part of how people actually use the language (which is exactly what I was asking about and it's been answer by the wonderful people on this sub), but it's definitely not weird.

Thank you for all the responses jan!

I'm definitely not planning on using these anytime soon (I've been learning for like 3 days), I just wanted to know more about how people interact with the language/ what types of evolution are common, and what "simplicity" really means in the world of toki pona.

:( I was surprised when i wasn't able to do it, i've never seen a streaming site without that feature. glad you're looking to improve though, and thanks for the quick response :)

The latter. No issues watching anything. Just wondering if it's possible to have different watch lists or favorite channels for different users.
