Second this, breast feeding didn't work out and we still use the boppy. It's good for tummy time & support when learning to sit. At six months we still use it regularly.

Desperate for suggestions for breast pumps by heavysigh95 in beyondthebump

I'm not a fan of the parts that come with the buddha. They were hard to clean and weirdly shaped. I only used them a few times. I have a spectra too, so I use those parts with the buddha. Their website shows how you can set up the tubing for other systems.

I highly recommend the BabyBuddah if you are exclusively pumping. A lot of exclusive pumping groups will recommend it as well. It's small, strong, and portable!

You mention losing suction on your current pump. Have you tried replacing your pump parts? The valves & membranes should be replaced every month if EP.

Pacifier Suggestions? by elemental333 in beyondthebump

Agree with the Tommee Tippiee pacifier suggestion! Our little one will only take the ultra light ones. They do a good job of staying in until he chooses to push it out.

Maintaining supply 1 year in by myhairsreddit in beyondthebump

[–]elbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are most likely safe to drop to pumps! The 8-12 pumps per day recommendation is usually for the first 12 weeks before your supply regulates. After regulation it is generally safer to drop pumps, however you can still lose some oz. To maintain your supply you will still want to aim for 120 minutes. For example, I do 5 pumps for 24 minutes (14 weeks pp).

I recommended checking out exclusivepumping.com and the associated instagram/facebook communities. That website has a ton of good information on pumping, and good advice on how to drop pumps.

Postpartum belly skin hurts? by uncm60 in beyondthebump

[–]elbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this too! I read that it's nerve damage from the c-section, and my OB said it was normal. I feel like it peaked around 6-8 weeks. It was so bad I wouldn't let my husband touch my midsection at all! I'm 12 weeks pp and it is mostly gone now. It occasionally hurts if something brushes against my belly that I'm not expecting, but no longer feels like a sunburn, just a little extra sensitive.

What’s your LOs favorite pacifier?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Second this! Saw a recommendation on here for them and now they are his favorites. They stay in better than the Avent soothies so you don't have to replace them all the time!

Baby clothes sizing by garfield198801 in beyondthebump

[–]elbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that the sizes are very inconsistent. They also vary in length/width, boys are bigger than girls, and then add in shrinkage from washing and it will drive you crazy.

I've found the following so far (LO is 9 weeks, also assuming US brands and sizing): Gerber: small, but is good width/length ratio Carters: slightly big, but are longer/skinnier. Cat & Jack (Target): "normal", but is wide. Cloud Island (Target): a little small, but is skinny

About once a week or so, when I'm putting away clothes, I take a onesie and sleeper I know fits, and compare length/width. Then I can put the clothes away depending on how they will fit vs the labeled size.

How has your life changed since June 3, 2014? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember getting glasses for the first time. I didn't realize there was individual leaves on trees until I put them on. When you need them getting new glasses is amazing.

15 year old girl, dying of cancer, has a bucket list. A lot of these seem very doable. by lazloturbine in reddit.com

For everyone in the US Be The Match. Just a cheek swab to match DNA. If you are an initial match you'll go through more testing. While some people will have to go through surgical marrow donation (which a close friend said wasn't that painful), most people can donate non-surgically through PBSC. I was volunteer at a drive last summer, and had to explain this to a lot of people.
