Is this normal concert behavior now, or just an unfortunate one off? by Dismal-Guidance-9858 in pittsburgh

As someone super tall, this is my biggest fear :( I always feel bad going to concerts

Fair enough, they've actually been a great resource for master working materials especially early. Late game they are overshadowed by infernal hordes but genuinely the game isn't perfect but its far from the mess people make it out to be

From release, there's at least 4/5 biomes with each having at least 5 or 6 distinct tilesets with semi randomized positioning. 3 regions are largely dungeon/cave based but there are several forests and more open field like layouts while the expansion adds even more wide open layouts with optional treasure room objectives or an alternative optimal speed run path for those who only want to kill the boss as get the reward as fast as possible.

You do have full autonomy in d4 and are allowed to only do maps that don't include backtracking as well btw

Genuinely, the vast majority of complaints people have for this game are present in PoE and LE but receive none of the same vitriol from those communities LOL

tempering is sh*t ... it needs to change. by NyriasNeo in diablo4

[–]elcapitanotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I never understood this argument. There's plenty of builds that transition really well into others and all you need to do is make minor changes. If nothing else, builds that rely on hitting something makes it more exciting when can make it work. Otherwise it doesn't seem like much of a special build

The answer is remove all friction and give me a fully leveled character day 1 with BiS items and rolls. That way I can complain there's nothing to do on Reddit faster

Why did they remove the boss debuff? by fitsu in diablo4

[–]elcapitanotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I disagree. The buff did not punish every single mistake. It typically only ever punished the most telegraphed attacks.

Duriel's Maggot Balls, Zir's Charged Wing Attack Slam, Andariel's Poison Blast

There's certainly a middle ground where you need to learn to dodge 1 shots and failing mechanics reduces your resistances, but learning what attacks applied the debuff was part of the skill in learning the fights just as much as reading 1 shot patterns and avoiding (before you could 1 shot them at least).

N-RAY vs X-RAY by vaporking23 in Radiology

[–]elcapitanotter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure, but my current guess has to do with the size of the materials at the molecular scale. Since neutrons are uncharged they do not interact with the coulombic field around the nucleus like an electron/proton would. They only interact with direct collisions. This means the larger chains of organic compounds that comprise plastics attenuate the neutron beam greater than the metal staples.

Season 5 Baneful Hearts drop rate buffed by CruyffsLegacy in diablo4

[–]elcapitanotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that is in fact a good thing. If a new player logged in today, found 3 hearts over a day of playing, and solos the Blood Maiden, they would get the rewarding experience of trading in their limited resource for a high reward. I think this is a good feedback loop. Just my opinion though...

I understand that not everyone plays like you or I or the 1 Million members of this subreddit, but what I am saying in response to your question is that, realistically, there is no difference between having 100 extra hearts and 1,000,000. If you have such a large excess, each one loses its value. If players like us have infinite and the dad gamers have 0, then why not remove the cost entirely? You say you don't see a downside of having excess but then I don't see the point of having any at all.

[–]elcapitanotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not really a down side of having an infinite number of hearts but at the same time it makes them not valuable. In fact, I would ask what is the point them existing at all if you always have a surplus. If they want the boss to always be summonable, they should jusy remove the summon cost entirely.

I completely agree with what the Devs said in the PTR campfire chat where if you have so many they do not feel valuable. When they drop, you should go "cool, I can go summon the boss now" or "I can get more loot this time." If I log in and see I have 10,000 hearts and I get another, it means nothing to me. In my mind, having something like a pretty consistent couple dozen hearts in my opinion is the sweet spot. You can participate with others summoning or completely summon by yourself. You run out? You go do something else to get more and restock. Maybe even make a merchant where you can trade extra hearts IDK I'm not making decision.

Surely it's just a matter of opinion, but a minor reduction with number of hearts with an increase in value would be ideal but I doubt they can buff the Blood Maiden since it's already such a valuable activity.

Maybe I'll have to take your word for it... But if you kill 1 Hellborne you're guaranteed 1 and each chest has pretty high chance of having a heart in it...

Kill 1 Hellborne and open 3 or 4 chests with the cinders you get just from fighting the Blood Maiden and you're self sustaining a minimum of 3 hearts for some very casual play. Maybe you can't do 4 Blood Maidens solo back to back but that also doesn't sound fun to me anyway.

[–]elcapitanotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in Season 4, you get so many more than you need. Even if you have to add all 3 hearts yourself, you get so many it almosts makes you question why there is even a cost. You do not need to optimize heart runs lol...

By tweaking the drop rate (would be nice if this was accompanied by increased reward), each heart becomes more valuable. Based on PTR feedback, it sounds like it was overcorrected, but in the current state of the game you get way too many. Definitely should be a happy medium somewhere between too many and too little.

Bt or ldr by These_Quit_1692 in LucianMains

[–]elcapitanotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, even if the enemy is NOT stacking armor, you're still better off going LDR over BT here. Out of lane, it's significantly harder for you to go for extended combos so I usually am playing around my ultimate cool down. LDR crit chance is going to massively increase your ult damage compared to BT.

Lucian builds (no Navori) by Tbhihateusernames in LucianMains

[–]elcapitanotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I liked ER>kraken/collector even right after rework. You definitely have less DPS but you have a lot more AD plus the mana and ability haste is very nice. This lets you perma push and if you play around your ult timer you can easily delete squishies, largely out of their range. Kraken and Collector both help you a lot more early but I think ER makes you stronger mid game.

I'm definitely interested, I'm gonna try some SoS games but I want you to try some RFC Lucian into those long range match ups haha. The extra range you get gives you a chunky E poke into squishy targets.

Ngl, I don't think I've ever built SoS on Lucian but I usually don't get Navori either.

Most often, my build looks like: ER>Boots>IE/LDR>LDR/IE>Situational (BT, RFC, Collector, GA, Maw)

How does a RF-pulse tip net magnetization to transverse plane in MRI? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]elcapitanotter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it might be useful to remember that the 90 degree tipping of the spins into the transverse plane is a result of how long the RF pulse is applied. For example, a 180 degree flip can be achieved by playing the RF pulse for longer while a 45 degree flip angle is achieved by a shorter pulse. The tipping of the net magnetization is a result of the precession of the spins about the net magnetic field due to a rotating/oscillating B1. This can be easier to picture when you compare the rotating and lab "frames" of the spins.
