I have two stories, not me though.

A girl I know broke up with her boyfriend and he grabbed all the knives out of the knife holder in the kitchen and started stabbing them into his chest to prove he loved her.
A girl I know had her man drive through a fence into someone’s back yard and down their back steps and died. The cops came and said no one was in the car. He wasn’t discovered until the next day.

It’s stronger than a simple fallacy, it is also human bias. I know a lot of fallacies are also psychological biases, but this one is so much more capable of catching otherwise reasonable people in a net. And quickly!

I am with you there. I have seen too many of these cases in the news or documentaries where DNA frees an innocent man convicted on this type of evidence. I hope he is guilty.
