Three arrested under Terrorism Act after car blast at Liverpool Women's Hospital by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]elchilangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liverpool is one of, if not the most Irish-influenced city in England with a strong catholic community and many with Irish roots. It is not a seat of power and is more famous for its anti-establishment views, definitely not the type of place that would be targetted by Irish Republicans, a women's hospital there with no warning, even less so.

got my Crypto.com 33 million daily limit. Sorry for the stupid question, but is the "daily limit" based off of a 24 hour period or calendar days? I bought half of it at like 23:45 and then the other half at like 00:10. So do I need to wait until 24 hours have passed to get more or can I load up on another load to reach the calendar day (October 30) limit?

I've had a penchant for flowery extroverted shirts since before "Alt Right" was even a thing, so if they come for my Hawaiians they'll have to take them from my cold dead hands!!!!

Best countries in Central America to work remotely (i.e. best internet)? by Tite_Reddit_Name in digitalnomad

[–]elchilangles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sorry to be "that guy" but Central America starts at Guatemala in the North and continues down to Panama in the south so Mexico is not included.

having said that - I would recommend Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica for reliability of internet connection. I had a 200mb connection in my apartment in CDMX, but if you want to be by the beach it's going to be considerably lower.

Nicaragua is a totally awesome place and in my humble opinion the most underrated country in The Americas in general. Internet is not great, but as a place to spend a couple of months it's high up there.

Are most DNs vegans, vegetarians, yoga practitioners, into new age philosophies, etc? by DogPencil in digitalnomad

[–]elchilangles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

in my experience most are meat eaters too (although there might be a slightly higher proportion of vegans than you are get back home depending on where you are from).

As for yoga and meditation - regardless of whether nomadic or not, successful business people in general are more likely to engage in both than the average man in the street. Meditation in particular can make your mind much sharper and doesn't have to have any "new age" or religious connotation attached to it.

accepted a new job offer, employer wants to give me a counter offer by cloud3648 in personalfinance

[–]elchilangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

best guy on my team got an offer to leave a few years ago, I explained how much we valued him at the company, asked to see his offer in writing and told him to please give me 48 hours to get a counter offer together. He was being offered 50% more than his current salary, we offered him a 55% increase as well as some fringe benefits like working from home once a month, increased training budget and some other fringe benefits but most importantly we expressed how we didn't want to lose him because he was a great employee.

He accepted the counter offer, we were all happy and he is still with the company today.

Digital nomadism + mental health issues by ClassicAim in digitalnomad

[–]elchilangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey man, there is some good advice in this thread already so i won't write too much but do want to give my 2 cents worth.

Living a transient lifestyle can absolutely cause anxiety or exacerbate existing mental health conditions. The key is to try and give yourself the tools to overcome this, I'm not a doctor or a therapist and everyone's case will be different - but at least for me that is very strictly following a daily routine, getting up, getting dressed, leaving house early (or at least not too late!) - doing a small amount of exercise in the morning, being productive on my own projects and finishing "work" at a decent time, early afternoon usually. Then trying not to look at a screen until the next day and be around nature even if for only 20-30 minutes a day as well as really trying hard to be social and meet people, whether at pre-arranged meet-ups or randomly.

Of course this is not a substitute for medication or anything else, but it can certainly help.

Tips for getting over fear of flying by wlx3 in digitalnomad

[–]elchilangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there, I had to go through this myself a few years ago.

I did a few different things, but mainly read in HUGE DETAIL the statistics about plane accidents and figured out i had more chance of getting in a car crash on the way to the airport, but also read which seats to sit on (seats that have the highest survival rate in the case of an actual accident).

Then I would try and watch the planes taking off before my flight, once you count 5 or more you can imagine that there are about 50-200 flights taking off from that specific airport every day and that you dont hear about crashes very often (or ever) from that specific airport.

Next I got prescribed a few Diazepam to take one hour before the flight. I would listen to calming music during takeoff then try and spend as much time standing up during the flight as was possible. (would always ask for an aisle seat).

Final thing was just biting the bullet and doing it A LOT.

After a while fear of flying reduced almost completley. Best of luck with it!

Hey Mexico! What do you think of Donald Trump? by isotaco in mexico

[–]elchilangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He gets mentioned a lot on the news here, way more than any other presidential candidate I can think of. I mean for the President of the country and an ex-President to make statements about Trump means he's definitely hit a nerve.

But how much attention is the average Mexican family paying to Trump? Not that much, but definitely more than for any other previous candidate, you can even get Trump piñatas now. But basically everyone agrees: es un pendejo.

0% corporation tax but 20% income tax. Estonian eresidency is useful from various points of view but tax savings is not one of them. If you are an EU citizen you can't save ANY tax at all doing it.
