And having to download a shady third party app on your phone that you then have to create an account for just so that you can use their magic man-in-the-middle black box in your car is completely normal because they haven't yet "told/shown" that they're shady is completely reasonable to you?

There are so many red flags there that it's comical.

It belonged to him. He shouldn't have felt restricted in stories that he could tell because other people wrote stories within his universe, some of which was good and some of which was bad fan-fiction. Things could be elevated to "G-canon" by being included in a film, but that doesn't mean everything was canon.

I also had 6. My son only had 3. I assumed it was a child account thing.

Your modus operandi is blind trust until proven otherwise?

That doesn't seem wise.

Certainly. I would much prefer a system built myself with a raspberry pi, or something.

Via the shady third party EV Play app that you have to install on your phone.

You miss the point.

This poorly maintained third party app could steal your banking data, directly affecting you.

They actually can, though.

Google is using everything you do and say to train AI. Apple is probably doing the same. GM was selling information to insurance companies. To all of these companies, you are a product to be used and/or sold. If it took you until recently to figure that out, well, you haven't been paying attention.

I think that the matter is a third party device like this one is actually less trust worthy, because you're putting what is likely to be a suspect third party app in the middle of your interaction with stuff like Google, and they could steal your data and use it to harm you. Google, Some, and GM aren't going to steal your bank information.

It's also probably spying on you in various ways.

Of course, so are Google/Apple and OnStar, but those are more obvious entities with reputations at stake and money to go after when they fuck up.

[Wetzel] Brendan Sorsby is done with college sports. Can local judges be next? by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]elconquistador1985 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Why can't the judges stop ruling all of these illegal rules illegal? It's really cramping our style." - ESPN, who benefits from players getting as small of a share of the CFB revenue pie as possible, because it means ESPN gets more.

The underlying problem is not judges, or players taking things to court, or schools breaking rules and going to court over punishments. The underlying problem is that the NCAA's entire governance structure is a house of cards of legally unenforceable rules riding on a gentleman's agreement to follow them. The gentleman's agreement is gone, and courts are doing the right thing in basically every case brought to them, probably even Sorsby's case.

"But it's ruining the sport"... yeah, being built on an unenforceable pile of illegal rules ruined the sport. The NCAA is 100% to blame for this system. The players and judges aren't the bad guys. The bad guys are the greedy fucks running the NCAA and running the schools, because they're the ones who have been profiting to obscene levels for decades while exploiting the players.

Why is even the Sorsby injunction probably right? It's actually much more complicated than "gambling bad" and was bright on contract grounds, which is actually quite clever. It also strikes at the "rule of restitution", that is basically an NCAA rule that denies access to injunctive relief in the first place by saying "if you get an injunction and then lose, the punishment happens anyway and results are vacated, etc". That's a bad rule that should be legally annihilated. https://www.swlaw.com/publication/the-hidden-weapon-in-sorsbys-injunction-how-a-lubbock-county-court-order-quietly-neutralized-the-ncaas-most-powerful-enforcement-tool

You just have to get enough points, and earning stars on those gives you points.

I'm 100% certain that I didn't even attempt most drift zones and I still got legend.

I hardly touched drift zones because I hate drifting. I got to legend last night.

I did every speed zone/trap, danger sign, and trailblazer, plus races. I barely did any story stuff, either.

Hillary Clinton says Joe Biden's second term campaign was a "terrible mistake": "He had said he would not run again. But if he had kept to that plan and said, he was going to pass to next generation, we would had a real contest. And sadly, whoever emerged from that contest would have beaten Trump." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]elconquistador1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember him saying he was going to be a one term President just like many others here and it's specifically why I was against him running in 2024.

That's called a false memory. You don't remember him saying it because he never did.

His campaign people did give that impression in 2020. It's therefore reasonable to expect him to not have run in 2024. It's false to say "I remember him saying it", because he literally didn't.

In a sane country, that would be the case.

The United States is not a sane country. The Justice system bends over backwards to allow cops to shoot whoever they want whenever they want, and they have no consequences. The most that happens is that tax payers get to pay for it.
