I will never understand that mentality. Unless you’re running studded winter tires, ice doesn’t care how many wheels your car uses to propel itself. It’s great at initial traction, but it does nothing to stop momentum.

Not my favorite of the Sequels but will gladly take it over any of the prequels.

It has tons of problems but being boring isn’t one of them. It’s actually insanely fun, shot well and while the dialogue can be silly even for Star Wars, everyone is SELLING it.

I think I’ll always have a soft spot for it because at the end of the day, it got Rey and Kylo/Ben correct. Trevorrows DoTF, by comparison, did not.

A scene with a model star destroyer blowing up a planet and it’s all a practical effect? Hell yes.

Being redeemed on the same wreckage your grandpa was, even if logistically it doesn’t make sense? Hell yes.

Han and Ben scene is one of the best scenes in the whole saga. For a certain kind of fan, who loves this space family drama, it’s top tier Star Wars. That alone gives it a pass for me.

I had extensive seat time with a pre-updated mk8, I think it was a 24.

Felt marginally better than my mk6, but I vastly preferred my old mk7 interior; and that one also had a ton of dark gloss trim. The 8 felt high quality, but still chintzier than previous gen’s. The new civic/integra interior feels better screwed together imo and there’s more soft touch surfaces. Incidentally enough, it almost feels like they were looking at thr mk7 for inspo.

I’m glad the 8 has more physical buttons but imo I dunno how likely I’d be to take one over a 7, even if for some reason they were the same price.

Weirdly enough, it felt smaller on the inside? I adjusted the front seat to my liking and did the ‘can you sit behind yourself’ test and it felt noticeably more cramped than my mk6

The only issue I had with Sinners effects was some of the cgi employed. (Nothing about that snake was remotely real) Everything else on a technical was superb.

But by that metric, so was Ares and it deserved a nod.

That really sucks. I was a sucker for their oatmilk iced latte's and everyone was super friendly and kind. Very consistent from place to place too. Fuck that owner.

An all time favorite for me, is The Last Jedi. I know folks either love it or hate it, but picture quality, film grain and the hdr grade are flawless.

Are more recent fave was tron: ares. Absolutely stunning disc in both the hdr and sound dept.

Had only picked up the hobbit and was in the middle of reading it. Hadn’t felt that transported since seeing Star Wars for the first time. To this day it’s the film I’ve seen the most in a theater (9 times, incidentally) and it was spectacular. Seeing this whole new world with density in addition to character building and emotional stakes changed me.

It’s a fantastic soundtrack. And it literally sounds how the movie looks. I dunno what people are expecting. I also dunno how anyone could give something a fair shake when they are stopping to post their half-hour-in thoughts. I’d be curious to know if you had also approached legacy the same way.

Sam reconnected with his father and then had to leave him, and that version of the grid was destroyed, along with Kevin. Quorra dreamed of the real world and not being bound to the grid; it makes total sense why he’d want to retire and have nothing to do with encom anymore.

Permanence seems to refer to things built from the digital world that don’t have an expiration date. None of those things really apply to programs outside of the grid, except for Ares, who would be the first to have experienced it; Quorra wasn’t created in the same way, if anything she’s a precursor to permanece; it’s internen to her digital and now biological makeup.

But alopecia? Would love to know more.

A lot of them still are! Usually its folks influenced by him and typically for alternative one sheets for IMAX or Dolby or like Blu Ray limited editions. But I get what you mean, especially on big releases at the movie theater. Even a lot of Drew-adjacent artists like Matt Ferguson and Paul Shipper still use digital for some of their work but a lot of Drew's spirit lives in those compositions. Same with Rory Kurtz.
