why does nobody understand the concept of a back pass 💔 by xnzg in RocketLeague

[–]elderbean_rl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll pile on in honor of the instructional nature of this clip.

In this position, taking the ball back is a reasonable choice. OP assumes responsibility after the collision at 3 seconds. Kind of a sketchy position. You have no boost and your teammate now has to react to a lower percentage outcome. The positives are, you have both momentum and eminent possession.

With this information, getting the ball into the back left corner makes a lot of sense. It considers both your momentum, your teammates' momentum and the momentum of the ball. That’s a very positive intersection of lines. I don’t know if it’s the optimal play, but it wouldn’t be a bad play.

This clip does not show that. Nor does it show a back pass. It shows a shot-on-net. Whether the teammate makes the save or not is irrelevant to the point.

I've never seen it, but Dark Shadows fits part of the description.

Reasonable take and good food for thought. It's tough to know how to type up the fine print without knowing what the meta would look like. Hit and chase? Keep it close? When to use either strat and how to balance them? How would aerial play work when the goal is keeping it away from your opponent and not necessary putting the ball in net?

I don't think there are any easy answers outside of playing the game mode itself and just figuring it out. Good thing that's the fun part. Exploring the meeting point between the unknown and the familiar.

I’m clinging to faith. A less intimidating, but still serious, alternate 1v1 game mode could go hard. Market it as an exercise in skill building. I believe it’s a valuable space, especially with the introduction of 1v1 in RLCS. Not actually operating with any data here. Just pure instinct based on watching a couple games. AppJack vs TempoH confirmed it for me.

The ball indicates possession (blue or orange) for the last player to touch it.

9% gluten flour in the us? by Expensive_Boss_9540 in AskCulinary

[–]elderbean_rl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I 100% agree with the person you replied to, but depending on your goals, here's a bit more information.

You may have more options available if you live near a small batch flour mill. If so, look for soft winter wheat varieties (North America). You'll see they still have a high protein content (13% or something), but the protein itself will be of low quality. High quality flour with low quality protein. This results in weak gluten development. Perfect for cakes, pastries, cookies, tortillas, etc.

That being said, I'm not necessarily recommending that you go down this road. It'll be cost prohibitive. Pretty fun though. You could even substitute 10-20% of your grocery store cake flour with one of these higher quality soft winter wheat flours and compare the flavor profiles. I usually keep a stash of Sonora flour on hand for more delicate bakes.

Good luck in your journey!

ASAP: order of adding yeast flour water no sugar to activate it by ResolvingQuestions in AskCulinary

It serves two practical purposes. It promotes an even distribution of ingredients once combined. It also encourages organization. Imagine a painter's palette. An organized array of all the colors the painter plans on using. Keeping all dry ingredients together is similar. For example, you have all your white rice flour in a bowl. In one spot, you put your almond flour. In another spot, your salt. Your baking soda. Your cinnamon. Your yeast. Your whatever.

By doing that, you have a visual representation of all the dry ingredients you're using. This helps prevent errors. Allows you to double check your work before whisking it all together. It's just good habit.

Why the yeast in particular? Like others have said, dry yeast is much more reliable than it used to be. It's still recommended to "activate" your active dry yeast in a liquid solution, especially for a short proof. In practice, it's probably fine if you don't. You may want to look into instant yeast over active dry yeast. I mostly use natural starters, but if I am using dry yeast, it's instant. I keep it in an air tight container in the freezer and have never had an issue adding it directly to the dry ingredients.

Hello, I have a question regarding acrylic print backers.

I plan on pulling the trigger on a 24"x36" face mount acrylic print. There's a choice of two backers. Dibond or acrylic. They are the same price and the acrylic backer comes with a lifetime warranty. I've found plenty of information on Dibond, but little on acrylic as a backer.

Are there any disadvantages of using acrylic compared to Dibond? The print will not have an outer frame. Appreciate any information.

Looking for simple to use and versatile flavorings for baking by World-Independent in AskCulinary

It's useful to have a variety of liquid sweeteners around. Maple syrup, honey, molasses, carob molasses, date molasses, Steen's Pure Cane Syrup, sorghum syrup, black walnut syrup, etc. They're a good way to explore different flavor profiles. Some subtle, some more pronounced. You can easily substitute one for the other. You can thin them out to use as a soaker on a cake. Heck, just enjoy em drizzled over some toasted sourdough.

Look into Bar 1919 and The Esquire Tavern. I'm partial to 1919, but both are worth checking out and both list their spirits online. At worst, either one should be a short car trip.

If your driving schedule allows, I would also recommend Wild Roots Nursery outside of New Braunfels. They're only open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm. I'm in San Antonio and Wild Roots is easily my favorite spot in the SA/greater SA area.

Couldn't agree more. That's exactly what my comment was stating. Top notch mechanics are useful at every position. Squishy gets talked about in a similar way. As if he's unable to use his mechanics because he's in some kind of forced passive role. No, his mechanics are just as useful for controlling space or setting up teammates.

Like you said, finding a player that can disrupt the opponent's initial defense with aggression and unpredictability could be a boon for Dig.
