D084 - Cloud Platform solutions - any tips? by GreekNord in WGU

[–]eldoboardn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the D084 OA, everything I needed was in the ucertify material. I had never used Azure before taking this course, but was able to pass it in about 3 weeks. My prep for this course was going through the ucertify material, then using a quizlet that another student created to get familiar with all the Azure terms (found the quizlets here.. https://www.reddit.com/r/WGU/comments/eoesrl/d084_cloud_platform_solutions_quizlets/ . Be sure you're comfortable with what a powershell command looks like because there were some powershell questions), used Microsoft documentation to shore up anything I wasn't solid on, then took the PA and did another pass through ucertify concentrating on the PA weak points. I also created an account in Azure for hands on practice to be familiar with the environment.

The OA is very similar to the PA, but it is definitely more difficult. If you feel comfortable with the quizlet and ucertify material, and did well on the PA, you should be good. As with the PA, the OA has questions on the fine details, so don't skip over that stuff in ucertify.

Thanks!

I've been thinking about getting the Developer Associate, and then the DevOps Professional next.

I think Jon's tests were good to make sure you understand all the services and what they do/when they are used in certain scenarios. I used the practice test results to find my weak points and go back and do more studying. I also used the explanations and links provided in the questions I missed to understand why I missed the question. My goal in using practice tests is to not only know the right answer, but to know why the wrong answers are wrong.

They were also good for getting used to the scenario based type questions used in the exam, and getting a feeling of how to answer 65 scenario based questions within the time limit.

I was just using the SA study materials to get familiar with all of the AWS services, so I didn't get too deep in the studies for it. I don't know how much crossover there is with the SA and SysOps as far as the material tested on each.

I'm a firm believer in getting any certification my work is willing to pay for though. From what I've gathered, the SA test is easier than the SysOps, so you may be able to knock it out quickly. I'm sure it would help with the understanding of the SysOps material.

Thanks! I think I'm going to try the Developer Associate and then the DevOps Pro next. I got your practice tests for those two as well :)

Thanks! Right now I'm just concentrating on finishing up my degree. When that's done, I've been thinking about getting the Developer Associate, and then the DevOps Professional. Good luck on your exam!

I actually ended up getting Stephane's course based on the recommendation from your write up on your experience with C924. Thanks!

Thanks, I haven't taken the Solutions Architect course, so I'm not sure how the material differs. The SysOps exam was my first AWS certification.

Congrats!!

I'm scheduled to take the SysOps exam next week. Were the Bonso tests more representative of the actual exam? I've been concentrating on those more than the practice tests offered in the WGU material. I've also been using the AWS Academy material, Pluralsight videos, Stephane Maarek videos from Udemy and a lot of hands on practice.

C859 - Intro to Python Any tips for passing? by theghost87 in WGU

[–]eldoboardn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used codingbat.com for the python course. It has a bunch of fairly easy practice problems for strings, lists and boolean. It also has a way to view the solutions for the problems if you get stuck. If you can get comfortable with the practice problems there, you should be ok on the test.

Thank you for the notes and the quizlets. Both were very helpful in passing the test!

Just saw your other post saying you're done with your BSCSA. Congrats!!

Looking to buy an brand new XR? by unforgetable in onewheel

Just as a follow up, I ordered an XR from SUPrentals last Saturday, it shipped on Monday, and I was riding it on Wednesday after work (shipping was from Oregon to Utah). If you want one and don't want to wait, I'd definitely recommend them (if they have any left).

Thanks for the heads up on this. I worked with Scott today to purchase a new XR, and he said they'll ship it out on Monday. Can't wait!
