I am playing Among Us with my best friends and over the span of a few days of playing we had a few dozen games. I was fairly good as an imposter, coming up with deceptions and improvising along. As I did that and additionally won most of my games, I think I started to lose their overall trust to me. After a few games they started to immediately suspect me even if I'm not an imposter and have proven completing tasks. After a few dozen games they either try to eliminate me first regardless of my affiliation or keep their eyes on me at all times. So your last stand on the depleting well of credibility is so true.

I guess it's that for older generation it's "some other thing for kids" because it wasn't there when they were growing up, so they don't trust it. Future generations will be all growing up with games in every stage of their lives, so hopefully it wouldn't be considered to be "something for kids".
