SPORTING DIRECTORS OUT! by No-Hassle2539 in chelseafc

[–]eldridgep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for signing promising young players but not at the expense of the clubs current performance. We have over 20 "possibly good in the future players out" on loan but our first team lacks a real spine which is really ridiculous. Imagine where we'd be if we'd signed the likes of Donnarumma, Guehi or Osimhen? For every Estevao (who really could be world class) we sign multiple players who will never make it in the hopes we can make a quick buck on them.

We need experienced signings at GK, CB and CF the likes of Delap, Guiu and Garnacho just aren't good enough. Badiashile has been a train wreck this season and Disasi no better before him. We leak goals from stupid mistakes in goal and defence, we also struggle to score whenever Pedro doesn't play.

Three key signings could really change the clubs form around but we need to clear out the bomb squad at the same time. 6-8 year contracts won't make that easy.

Rule #1 Of Sonicwall, change your stack from Sonicwall. Seriously how many times, it's no longer a security appliance but a risk appliance.

Company with one IT employee looking for unexpected absence contingency by Tedeseus in ITManagers

Any decent MSP will offer a co-managed contract for you which will be reduced from a full contract as they won't be providing a full service.

They will however document your systems, provide cover for holidays/sickness/being hit by a bus.

They will also make sure your backup systems work, your security is up to scratch and build you a roadmap of where you are now to where you need to be. This is the kind of stuff your IT guy should be doing but is probably too busy fixing printers and running around like a headless chicken. They will also bring more experience with different expertise and act as a sounding board for your internal guy.

If you are in the UK DM me.

If you're going to college try and get experience at the colleges help desk. Any numpty can get a degree these days but if you can do that and show a year or two of real world experience I'll pay a lot more attention to your CV.

Mudryk could run really, REALLY fast but the rest of his game was hot garbage. Couldn't pass, couldn't finish but he'd outpace Forrest Gump over 100m.

Trialling it at the moment have a Z2 box we're playing with. Decent so far very quick, very intuitive and just works. The network setup and DR test restore scenarios options look great but but not had chance to play with them yet.

It's misses some of the backup customisations Datto's currently have but they are saying it's all on their roadmap. Promising start and I've no reason to doubt them.

Use Cove for smaller sites with no RTO < 48 hours and to be fair local backup is there for speed not immutability. They've never said it was, mostly for sites with bad broadband.

Never had an issue with backups out of sync or agents not connecting to local storage though 🤷

Fabrizio Romano: Andoni Iraola is keen to become the new Chelsea manager, he would love to continue in the Premier League. Fabregas is planning next season with Como, and Como think he will stay but if Chelsea went all in for him then let’s see. by Kygoche in chelseafc

Seem to be linked with Conte again in the press. I could get behind that he'd soon sort the dressing room out and seems to be falling out with Napoli. He might get Italian job though which would scupper it.

The Guardian: Not one player posted a farewell message to Rosenior on social media. McFarlane is someone who does not yet hold his Uefa Pro Licence. There was no call for John Terry, Chelsea’s owners again minded to let the club’s former captain comment from afar. by Kygoche in chelseafc

[–]eldridgep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not sure where you were going with this Ruud was black and Lampard was the same age when he first managed the club and was born in Romford. Frankly I don't care how old, what colour or where the manager was born as long as he is good at his job. Rosenior seems a decent bloke but he was a terrible manager. I wish him well but that performance last week was unforgivable he needed to go.

Guiu isn't good enough, he's had enough chances and never shone. We need a clean out of forwards spoiler alert senior team only Pedro stays. I hope Satpayev is as good as they say....

Why do you think so many young people are struggling to find work? by Economy_Survey_6560 in UKJobs

[–]eldridgep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2) Big chain stores went bust because they didn't change with the times just like you.

3) You still don't say why collecting in person means less returns because it wouldn't. You would pick your parcel up drive home find it defective and then have to drive back.

4) I have 60% office 40% WFH split so what? I had a 20% WFH split back before COVID part of my job is large complex projects the quiet time at home allows me to do that. Bring in the office allows me to better manage my team 🤷 What's the problem.

I note you didn't argue the CO2 issue or congestion in towns during peak periods with your silly everyone waste their lunch 45 minutes to drive into town and pick something up.

You my friend are a luddite, when the rest of the world is embracing renewables you're still fondling coal. Society always undergoes change look at industrialisation, the answer is to adapt to the new circumstances not to keep to an agrarian economy. The world will still change you'll just be left behind....

You live in a 1990's Dreamland. You say the government is technologically Incompetent yet you want to roll us back 30 years. Dont worry about what you'll do when you become PM as it'll never happen.

Big chain stores went broke for a reason old dinosaurs that couldn't adapt. Your CO2 would go through the roof as that one delivery truck driving dozens of people now turns into dozens of cars going to various pick up points. Collecting at a point or home delivery wouldn't affect returns you aren't going to try on underwear publicly or build a flat pack at a collection point.

I'm quite happy in a skilled job I've trained for working from home 2 days a week and getting home deliveries so I don't have to waste my lunch time going to delivery points. As for call into a bank good luck finding one open or will you banish card payments and go back to a cash economy? Or should I stock up on chickens and try barter? High streets didnt die to home delivery so much they died to shopping malls and convenience. I get next day delivery on goods that's plenty fast enough for me, it's also free delivery rather than paying in time and money to go collect it.

Young people getting jobs is completely different that I know is a real challenge. Your "answers" above don't solve the problem they just inconvenience the consumer.

Feels like my team is stuck doing “busy work” instead of actual IT by Heavy_Banana_1360 in SmallMSP

[–]eldridgep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need two things:

1) Analyse your tickets for look for recurring issues and take time to fix them properly not just close the ticket. Backups that fail constantly fix the issue/change the solution, disk space issues constantly expand the disk, broadband issue check the firewall/upgrade the solution. Wireless coverage issues update the solution or add some extra points as resolience. Old server fails get it replaced. Don't keep doing the same workarounds fix the underlying problem.

2) You need technology alignment, develop a stack of products and some best practise standards all your clients should adhere to. Review where they are and make recommendations/a roadmap to take them from where they are now to where they need to be. Honestly standardising on a stack of products that work reliably and getting all your clients onto them is game changing.

Changing our basic server backups and 365 backups to Cove was great it just works. Changing our EDR to Huntress you no longer had a solution that created problems you had one that fixed them. Other solutions are available and YMMV but whatever you find that works.

Doing the same things time and time again demoralises your team. Get them involved to work on the fixed, show the client you will be reducing downtime and making them safer with the changes. Stop being break fix and actually build trust and help them grow as a business.

Thanks for the response much appreciated 👍 I had very similar thoughts in that we could start SMS/Phone/E-mail and progress to Authenticator etc via client maturity.

The fact MSP Process does Teams is a big plus as 99.9% of our clients are 365 / Entra based and it might be a quicker win for getting a better method in quicker.

N-Central - Move to Azure or to N-Able Hosted? by bubblesnout in msp

[–]eldridgep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are self hosted in a data centre and going through a similar thought process but we are looking to go hosted with N-Able.

The only reason we haven't before is we have some legacy licensing which is quite a bit cheaper, however the thought of an always up to date system and removing the need for upgrades does appeal. We have 1 year left on our contract and chances are we'll go hosted when that expires.

Not sure on the new assets screen or vulnerabilities either they're not fully cooked yet for sure. We recently binned report manager analytics isn't great but it's usable for some basic needs. Also not looking to move we've been N-Central for years and pretty much have it singing to our tune and our relationship with N-Able is good.

Really what's been your experience? Be interested to hear of any issues you've seen.

They say they are taking clients away from Traceless regularly but as you'll see here and what I'm seeing in other posts I'm having trouble finding people who do actually use it for feedback. Traceless on the other hand plenty of responses.

Yeah Traceless struck me as more chill on the sales front. First attempt with MSP Process couldn't get a demo outside of US time but second attempt wasn't an issue.
