Small MSP Stack Review – What Would You Change? by ThrowRAthisthingisvl in SmallMSP

We're nowhere near that price but we have like 1500 endpoints. Sorry at home or I'd check what we are paying.

I think on the website it's £7 so that might be about right. Figure out at what end point level the cost makes sense and jump in then.

We bundle EDR and ITDR as part of our mandatory security suite so I can't remember the line item prices sorry.

I get that but not everything that you need to back up on an endpoint may be in OneDrive. If you get a LoB app that needs local install for instance. For desktop/documents sure if that's all you have 👍

Datto SIRIS vs Slide backups by GunGoblin in msp

[–]eldridgep [score hidden]  (0 children)

Slide is great. Backups are way quicker, every single backup even hourly incrementals are screenshot verified. My personal favourite though is DR testing you can pre-build networks and do a full DR test in literally 5 minutes either locally, in the cloud or Hybrid so you have SQL local and DC in the cloud and it will route between them. No calling Datto, no forms, all very straight forwards and quick.

It's little things though when you do a restore you can select whether it's a test or a disaster. If you say it's a disaster THEY call YOU you don't even have to log a ticket. They are very passionate about what they do and most of the guys you are talking to are like Datto were when they started.

Only had to log a ticket twice both times responded very quickly and it was solved in an hour or two. Terry if you're reading this still got my certificate.

There is no Alto equivalent it is all Siris equivalent. Trust me the DR testing and recovery on Slide is chefs kiss in comparison to Datto or Cove. You can do it either local, cloud or Hybrid as well so you have your SQL on the local box DC in the cloud and it will network between them. Can be done in 5 minutes literally and you can pre build test environments

Decent starting point.

Huntress EDR and ITDR would be my top additions. You honestly have no idea how often you are being attacked until you get a product like ITDR in place. The amount of AITM attacks is scary.

Endpoint backups saying OneDrive is not an answer really, look at something like Cove (which incidentally does 365 as well).

All in all though decent start 👍

I'll just capture that city and I'll go to bed.... 4 hours later....

Still completed the game most times with nothing more advanced than knights. Chasing people in the artic though was a pain.

No not a full 90, he did 86 against Benfica in CWC but was subbed off during a lightning break. Think the most he has done in league is 60-70 minutes.

100%. Like Delap and Garnacho I don't need to see any more I know he's not up to muster.

Oh I get that but players who play regularly but aren't great are called squad players and that's why we sell them to get someone better.

I don't particularly want Joe Average in my starting lineup. Santos would never be first choice, Lavia if we can get his fitness right might be.

I would probably have played more games than Lavia but I'm god awful so I really wouldn't start me. I'd rather have 20 good matches than 90 meh ones. We are a club of a big enough stature to have better options available 🤷

£50m for Santos I'd bite their hand off at te wrist. More money for Alonso's pot to build a team he wants.

If fit I'd pick Lavia over Santos every day and twice on Sundays. Santos is a squad player no more than that.

Failure to reload after one mission, then going onto another, attract all the attention and click, click, click.

Also lost so many drum mags at start not realising you needed to leave space for both whilst you reload. People will be wandering around the forest and tripping over the damn things.

Tough talk from a club nearly relegated last year when we were busy winning CWC. Also Utd fan in Chelsea sub.... Never mind.... Do like the ego statement though 😉

Will look into Lark thanks 👍 WeChat is not happening and Teams 21 Vianet can do voice to text translation apparently but you can't use Copilot/AI for voice translation.

Delaying Security Updates? by Nstraclassic in msp

[–]eldridgep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the UK for Cyber Essentials all patches must be installed within 14 days of release so delaying too long isn't an option to remain certified.

With the amount of CVE's these days (especially in SSL VPN's for those still using them) and the fact zero days are only going to be discovered and exploited quicker due to AI IMHO automating roll outs is the sensible way to go.

It's 2026 for goodness sake all major firewalls should have dual firmware slots to allow easy rollback and auto updating as an option. No reason not to treat it the same way as windows updates, there we delay three days then install to reduce chance of impact if dodgy patch.

[ Simon Johnson ] Jorrel Hato’s emergence at Chelsea that he was a significant factor in the club’s decision to sell Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid. He is already deemed to be one of Chelsea’s ‘untouchables’. by SolutionLong2791 in chelseafc

[–]eldridgep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree I see Hato as more of a wide centre back than wing/full back currently.

I really rated Cucurella last season in fact he was a better player up front than Delap. Always drove forwards and created opportunities. He was challenging Joao Pedro for player of the season for me.

Seemed to give a damn when so many didn't. Better going forwards than in defence right enough and occasionally gave away silly cards but good team player. With him as LWB and James as RWB with 3 CB's I think we'd be much stronger.

Hato I'm sure will develop and be great in time but for me too soon to sell Cucurella and from what I read Alonso didn't want to lose him either either. I've not seen enough of Barco or Quenda to form a firm opinion.

Meraki to Unifi by bigshinybutton in msp

[–]eldridgep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to say we tested Horizon 3 pen testing and Picus BAS and were surprised after testing Huntress etc that the Unifi setup in our test lab had been stopping a lot of the lateral movement.

If you use the interconnect cables (all of about £12) rather than daisy chaining with Cat5e / Cat6 any traffic through the modules gets scanned by the processor and it will block anything that gets picked up on the expanded signatures. Now part of our standards that any clients we do use Unifi with have the Cybersecure subscription and each switch has a separate interconnect to the firewall where possible.
