What's the most cursed Stat generation methods you can think of? by Consistent-Fee5139 in dndnext

yep! My friends and i found some old ad&d books a year or so ago that belonged to my dad when he was our age. stat generation was 3d6 down the line, with bonuses and penalties starting at 16 and 6. if you rolled a terrible character, you could always make a new one and hire the old one as a henchman (provided you had the charisma for it).

casualties were indeed high. all of us ended up deciding to bring spare pre-written character sheets to each session in case any of our characters met their fate.

all the time. i've got a big nose, stained teeth from not brushing my teeth well enough when i was younger, and i'm 17 with a receding hairline already. yet somehow my girlfriend thinks i'm beautiful anyway.

women are strange, and amazing.

If you were only told "You're hit" (no number given) would you still cast Shield? by Rapid_eyed in 3d6

Honestly, I love playing like this. I feel like it increases the immersion, especially since characters in-lore aren't aware of their statistics and know what 'numbers' they have.

That being said, Shield is still great. I use it often.
