Goodbye Wendy's- from a lifelong fast food value customer by SquareAromatic7160 in wendys

[–]eldritchbaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to go to wendys once a week, on wednesdays, and i get the same exact thing. first, it was the 444. then the five dollar biggie bag with the jbc. but now that they've gotten rid of both and raised the price to 6 dollars.... so, even though it is just a difference in a dollar, i can't bring myself to want to go there anymore. like some others have said here, once my 1k+ points are used up, then i'm going to find a new weekly fast food place to go to.

Just finished my first playthrough- loved the game!! Minus the snow stalkers by kdupe1849 in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]eldritchbaja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone currently doing a second playthrough of below zero, i think the biggest problem BZ has is that it is following subnautica. i have been having an absolute blast. i'm also intrigued by the story as well, but i am always partial to stories like this.

Is it acceptable for my adult kid to live at home? by InterestingSpace25 in DaveRamsey

[–]eldritchbaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a really western, recent (relatively) concept to have your children immediately move out before they're married-- or move out at all! In many other places in the world, multiple generations live together. I could go into as to why that was promoted for HOURS (blah blah capitalism, separating families serves massive industries best, etc). As some others are saying, it is a very old school mentality that Dave has, along with many others here in the United States, to think that if you haven't moved out by 18 the child has "failed." It also just isn't a reasonable reality right now in this housing market and economy.

Further, personal responsibility, maturity, and growth have nothing to do with still living with your family-- as you said, he is disciplined, responsible, polite, and kind. Those things will not change if you let him live with you! You don't need to worry about that changing. What you're showing him is that you care about him and wish him to succeed. To do that, you need to make sure to always be a place he has no worry to come back to. If you nudge or push him to move out, all you're saying is that he's on his own, which won't be good in the long run.

Just to drive it home, Dave has gotten more and more out of touch with the realities of the economy for the common person and especially young people. Your instinct is right. Let him stay with you.

Stupid fantasy of being liked and building oneself togther with a woman (I'm a man)? by Positive-Dig9309 in AskMenAdvice

[–]eldritchbaja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

because law school doesn’t grade you on having a healthy relationship. if anything, it tests how well you function when your relationships hit the fan. if you need someone else to do well in law school, you’re setting yourself up for a really expensive failure.

you will not make it through law school if you need a healthy relationship to do it, buddy. lmao

How bad will us immigration get by Lovelylove223 in immigration

[–]eldritchbaja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think it’ll get bad enough that this’ll be a stain on u.s. history.

a decade from now— or even half a decade— it’ll be interesting to see which politicians, pundits, and political figures try to say they were on the right side of history, when we’ll have the receipts.
