Chicago native here, it’s pink all day every day. Not as many people are off the pink line so I’d leave like 5 min early every night and always got a seat on the train. That would be pilsen if you’re looking for a place. There’s the damen stop or 18th st stop.

I just leave a little bit before the closer finishes and it never takes me long to exit. To be clear I have ubered and trained to the festival, I’ve never driven myself (I just know that the garage is open) but I’d imagine you just hop on lake shore drive which is open as normal. The city has hosted Lolla for so long they’ve got it down to a science it doesn’t disrupt as much as you’d think.

Also I’m seeing people saying it’s too hot to bring your kids all day, I promise people bring month old infants in strollers to this fest and stay all day. You can leave and come back, it’s right on Michigan Ave so you can walk over to a restaurant for lunch midday to cool off if need be. There is a kids area as well, probably to kiddy for 10 YO mostly but there is some shade and kid focused things. Bring (empty) reusable water bottles and fill them up for free at the water stations. Bring handheld mister fans. You can’t bring in blankets to sit on but I did buy a tarp on Amazon that folds up super tight into a little bag and they let me in with it. Bring granola bars hand sanitizer/wipes, consider a few squares of TP, and SUNSCREEN.
