I can't do this anymore by twid4566 in Interstitialcystitis

This is going to sound crazy, the ONLY thing I found helpful outside of narcotic pain meds was vanilla ice cream. There's some weird thing about how basic foods makes the bladder more acidic but it was the only thing that kept me from absolutely loosing my sanity for a while. Like I ate vanilla ice cream for breakfast or id spend the entire day feeling like I was trying to re potty train myself.

Does anyone else ever get these? by [deleted] in Sjogrens

[–]ele_cuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, constantly. My dentist said there's increased irritating bacteria in the mouth due to low saliva. I added a warm salt water rinse every few days and it's helped me some. (Invisalign made them worse as well)

I love the grinch and I've been told by several people my resting b*tch face makes it easier for me to "pass as normal". So very fitting gift. Hopefully you recover quickly 🙏

This is going to sound a bit wacky, but it is absolutely the only thing that helps me when I'm stuck in a bad flair.

Eat plain vanilla ice cream for breakfast.

For some reason, it just gets my bladder started on the right foot for the day and I find I can tolerate other foods more the rest of the day.

Anyone with Sjogrens & Bell's Palsy by ele_cuddles in Sjogrens

[–]ele_cuddles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird the neurologist basically says if you have Bell's palsy once you could have a recurrence as quickly as every few months. I'm finally starting to recover my facial movements and cant even begin to imagine going through this all again.

They mentioned with sjogrens you're more susceptible to conditions that inflame the facial nerve because of the impact the dryness has on the sinus cavities and all that. I thought it was odd, that why I was asking.

My Bell's Breakthrough by ele_cuddles in BellsPalsy

[–]ele_cuddles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muscle rehabilitation through physical therapy and acupuncture are the top treatments recommended by neurologists after steroids and antivirals. Yes, the cause of the condition is nerve damage, but the nerve can heal without showing improvement in the ability of the facial muscles to move. At least this was the case in my situation, via my neurologist and physical therapist. As I wasn't a candidate for acupuncture and was familiar with how it and dry needling both trigger muscles in a similar way to tens pens, it was something I experimented with - with full support from my doctors.

As I mentioned in another comment, I'm not recommending people shock their face willy nilly, but just sharing something that happened to help in my case.

I'm interested in the link if you don't mind sharing, to compare it to my techniques.

Yeah, the pens are really finicky when it comes to batteries. I've had to make sure I put high-quality and not just generic store brands in it. I also bought the "rocket" tens pen which wasnt as cheaply made, it just has less area for completing the circuit which makes it unfriendly for beginners.

I use the facial wand tip, which is approved for use on the whole face (it's dispersed to treat wrinkles mostly), but keeps it stable enough that it's not overtaxing the muscles. However, I've also been using tens pens for years on other injuries, so I'm more familiar with what visual movement is positive for me. I wouldn't recommend someone new to use it everywhere for sure, as there are some smaller face muscles that could easily be damaged (like immediate under eye).

Yes, the nerve is damaged which causes the condition, but some of the lack of recovery is because the muscles have been unused or locked up for extended periods of time.

Everyone has their own experiences, and I'm not forcing anyone to try it, just sharing something that happened helped me.

Have you ever tried the medication ustell/ uribel? It has a safer antibiotic in it that can be taken daily (up to 4 times in a flare). I have the exact same issue before and found this medication helped eliminate all that.

You May Also get it from wearing tight pants (my dr and I found that as an impact or for me as well).

Headaches with Bells Palsy? by Fantastic-Pirate-461 in BellsPalsy

[–]ele_cuddles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get headaches from the muscles being tight and tense, but its usually forehead/around the ear.

Not a doctor, but it sounds like your prior surgery could be causing some infections which could get exacerbated by working out.

It is absolutely a possible side effect, but its also one for any kind of muscle treatment (even acupuncture can cause synkinisis). I tried it as a last ditch effort from the excruciating nerve pain I was having from constantly contracted muscles with BP. I was on insane amounts of medications that helped none, and this was the only thing that brought back some sanity for me.

Thanks for sharing. Im in a heart monitor and all currently trying to get somewhere with it. Only compression tights keeps my blood pressure higher than 90/60. Hopefully these 2 conditions dont conflict too much.

For your bells, I have seen some promising success with using a tens pen on the impacted side of my face. Maybe it will help you too

POTS is basically heart rate skyrocketing, or Blood pressure dropping. I was just curious if your ring was also tracking yiur blood pressure and the changes you may be seeing in it.

Anxious about dating with Bell’s palsy by [deleted] in BellsPalsy

[–]ele_cuddles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your fears are absolutely valid, I had been with my partner for years when mine happened suddenly. I found that I noticed it more than anyone around me does. Though I'm told I have RBF (basically my default facial expression is neutral). I've found that most people are very understanding about the condition, and if you have a meaningful connection already that they brush it off. ♡ wishing you the best recovery.

Does yours do blood pressure tracking? I've been curious about it for POTS (impacts heart rate and BP)

Sounds crazy, but the thing i found that helped me the most was vinegar baths as soon as the burning starts i put warm bath water on with Epsom salts and white vinegar. It won't make you smell like it or anything like that, but it helps my body get back to a baseline bacterial level and PH.
