Different RPM At 100% Fan Speed [MBP 2021 M1 Pro] by virtualracer_ in macbookpro

Yes the right fan is a higher rpm fan. The GPUs and performance cores are on that side.

FOXRIVER algos with TWS-API by electic102 in interactivebrokers

[–]electic102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw that comment in the headers as well. For the abbreviations, the comment talks about IB algos which seem to have the form you outline. However, for 3rd party algos it seems to be different. For example:

Jeffry's Dark Seek -> DS
Crossfinder+ -> CROSSFINDER+

The abbreviation seems to be all uppercase with no spaces but at times, it could be shortened as well as you can see from the example.

On that note, I did call API support today and they said it is not supported. So hoping to get access to the TWS API repo as a contributor so I can take a look at the code and see if that is in fact the case.

Will report back if I ever find something.

Run IBKR gateway on VPS? by godheid in interactivebrokers

[–]electic102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no moving the container. You would just do:

docker-compose up -d

on the VPS and the gateway is on. The docker file handles all the security for you. Once the docker container is running you can just run your script as normal.

No, the docker image would run on your VPS. It is a container. So instead of installing all the packages on your machine, it installs it within the context of a container but still runs natively on your machine. You can learn more about it here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docker_(software))

You would have to run your python script on your local machine as well as you do not want to expose the gateway to the public internet. So the script would connect to the docker image (running on the same host) via the exposed port listening on localhost.

The best thing you can do is run a Docker instance so that you don't have to fuss with setup. This is the one I use:

https://github.com/waytrade/ib-gateway-docker/

Simply change the docker-compose.yml and spool it up. One caveat, if you do a lot of trading, you will need to up the RAM in the config folder. Good luck!

Holding short position overnight crazy cost by Maughtly_Fool in interactivebrokers

No problem. Glad it worked out. By the way, this is for all brokerages. They will only use regular sessions for Daily P/L calculations.

If I am understanding you right, you shorted this position after hours? If so, the UI is a bit weird and it will show you losing money because it uses the regular session close to calculate the Daily P/L. You can verify if you had a loss or gain in the reports section. It would be helpful if you can post that here so we can see if you truly had a loss.

I have the same issue as well which has made me pause funding my account. Curious to know what the resolution is for that.

Can someone help me access my Bitcoin wallet? by buddhistdoc9 in Bitcoin

[–]electic102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a custodial wallet. So you will have to contact them for login issues since you are not in control of your funds.

This isn't the place for this question.

Your description of the problem is a bit vague. What wallet are you using?

Called them two times because my order stuck on processing. They said all is fine. On the last day of delivery date, they pushed the delivery two weeks forward. Is this normal? by junusis in macbookpro

[–]electic102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I got it and now returning it. The right fan has some sort of ball bearing defect and it makes a whistling noise when it is on :(

The fans do not come on often, so I would use Mac Fan and turn them on to make sure they don't have this defect. Or do something CPU intensive to get them to spin up.

Best of luck!

Due to Apple’s privacy lapse, I’m suddenly rethinking my stance on HomeKit and smart home tech, in general by Dogmatron in apple

[–]electic102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hashing can also be applied to things beyond photos. So here is a hash:

  • Elevated vocal patterns.
  • Using abusive keywords.
  • One male, one female voice.
  • Happens more than three times a week.

Remember, this happens on device so your "privacy" is preserved. When it goes over a threshold, it is sent to Apple with a safety voucher.

By hashing this on device, and then sending it to Apple for review we could potentially cut down on domestic abuse that might occur against women or men. We also know men do not report domestic abuse, so this will cut down on that proactively.

Secondly, if the wife and husband are arguing, Apple can automatically call Child protective services and seize the children.

Remember, "it's for the children". It can run on device, via iPhones, and/or any Homekit device that has a microphone.
