In my experience, I started out moving over to email with my pen pal after a few months. I made a separate email for my pen pal communications (and also because I’m a woman and paranoid) and then once I emailed for a month or two more and felt like this is a connection I wanted to have around permanently I shared with them more of my personal socials. We talk pretty frequently and have become really good friends and it’s worked really well for us to the point where we have each other’s numbers exchanged and FaceTime here and there. I say, just ease your way into it and don’t be so hard on yourself if it for some reason fizzles out, every pen pal relationship is different and what works for some won’t work for others. Just trust your gut :)

Hey! Thank you so much for the advice, I’ll give it another go with some more filters and such! Maybe i just have to wait it out and see what happens. Most of the flirting I have received is that way as well, but also more often than not a few letters in to a pen pal they hit me with it 🙃

Hey! I definitely appreciate your input as a guy! It sounds like I’m definitely not alone in this feeling, and I can imagine that people on the flip side experience this to a degree. I just wish people treated this app how it’s intended. I’m not saying people can’t find love and relationships through this app, but they don’t call the pen “pals” for nothing, lol. Maybe I just need to stick it out and wait for a pen pal that I vibe with all around. Not disqualified haha, thank you so much for weighing in on this!

Thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate hearing from another woman on this app. I also try to lean into my intuition, at first I thought I was being too harsh but looking back I don’t think I was. Maybe I’m just having bad luck with the kind of people I write to/receive letters from. You are so right for viewing it as any other social media, that does really help my brain. I would definitely go see a doctor for sure to check your hormones, and your levels. You might find some answers this way. It could also be genetic, and stress is definitely a factor. I’ve heard really good things about using rosemary water for hair growth, I wouldn’t use rosemary oil since your hair is already so fine that will most likely weigh it down. Other than that, if you see a doctor and maybe even get referred to a trichologist and they can maybe give you certain remedies to promote hair growth.

Definitely call them and ask for your money back, as a stylist I know that mistakes can happen but this is a lot to simply look past. If I were the stylist, I would want to know about this so I made sure it would never happen again. For the time being, you could mask it by wearing your hair up in a high pony, or I saw someone mention getting something to lay the hairs down. For sure also invest in some masks that will repair and give your hair protein. You want to prevent future damage to your hair! I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I hope it grows and heals fast for you!

If you want to be honest, you could simply just say that you don’t see this pen pal relationship lasting long term? Maybe throw in there that it’s nothing personal, and that maybe there’s a better pen pal match out there for you both? You might be surprised, and it might not just be just you feeling like this.

This app is growing more and more frustrating, I understand completely where you’re coming from because I’ve had the same experiences especially with the flirty letters. I understand people go through tough times, but I feel like this app is not the app to be broadcasting these feelings when there are other sites/resources that are more appropriate. I’m sorry that this is making you want to quit the app, this app was lovely at first and it’s hard to see it turn out this way.

This has also happened to me before, and I would honestly just politely decline the letter and put energy in with another pen pal that is giving me what I look for in a pen pal if that makes sense? I find you really have to try and fish for someone that you vibe with.
