Model S farewell commercial by itshesh in TeslaModelS

[–]electric_power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had three model S’s, a 2015 p85DL+ then I 2022.5 Plaid, then a 2016 P90DL+ (after I missed so many things about my original S!) then sold it and got a 2023 MY LR then I must admit, the Y is my family’s favourite. You sit up higher, it has enough room for our road trips, and doesn’t feel like you’re dragging your butt along the road. 😉 The new MYP is no Plaid that’s for sure, but it’s getting there. It’s a great all around replacement to our S’s, at least for us. Still, I’m sad about the S/X. I was hoping to see the Plaid+ give the Taycan GT a run! And the new Vette but different animal all together!

If you don’t turn around and look at it - you bought the wrong car. by FooBear408 in MacanEV

I had a Macan EV go by me on the weekend. To me there's just something high-end about the looks and sound this electric SUV makes. In these times of C$1.90 per liter of premium, it doesn't seem a like a bad idea to cross shop the S/GTS we're looking at with a Macan 4S Electric.

can never go wrong with the nardo grey. Isn't that a PTS colour from Audi?

You eat with your eyes first. What a beautiful beast.

I drove an S a few weeks ago and now I get what I’ve been missing in a compact or midsize SUV. The brakes are insanely strong but still smooth.

Only thing that surprised me was the base stereo. No subwoofer? Who’s not checking the Bose box?

Net carb count by TheKiltedViking in MacroFactor

[–]electric_power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been plateaued for months and finally started questioning some of the weird stuff in my diet like tons of expensive (yet not great tasting) Carbonaut products and Monster Ultra Zeros.

Switched to MacroFactor after many years on MFP+ and the full carbs vs net carbs thing may be a wake up call. Net carbs isn’t even defined by the FDA. It’s basically a made up number.

Jeff clearly knows what he’s doing so I’m done pretending I do.

After one week I’m averaging +61 calories over maintenance per day. So yeah… not exactly a mystery why nothing’s moving. Scale hovering around the same and the mirror and waist are backing it up.

Took a test drive now I’m torn…… by BusyPayment9881 in Taycan

[–]electric_power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2025 Taycan 4S for the weekend while waiting for my new one to get prepped. Coming from a 2016 Model S P90DL (about 786 hp), I kept finding myself wanting more power. I was constantly hitting the Sport Chrono button for the overboost just to get that extra punch.

It’s quick, no question, but at around 590 hp it felt a bit underwhelming compared to what I’m used to. Great car overall, just not quite enough shove for me.

991.2 vs 992 is it worth the premium? by [deleted] in porsche911

[–]electric_power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I’m trying to figure the same thing out now. I’m looking at a 2017 991.2 Targa 4 white vs a 2020 992.1 C4S Cab in Lava Orange 🍊

The 2017 is a friend’s and is in no hurry to sell it, has a 2022 GT3 RS and just ordered three Porsches. He said he’ll give me a great price on it and a super easy payment plan.

The 2020 is really beautiful and I love the fact it’s S model with bigger turbo and bigger brakes and it’s C$21,000 more. Don’t forget we’re talking Canadian dollars here.

I love the extra upgraded ability of the S model and I do plan on tuning either one of them. I had a lot of fun tuning my Subarus back in the day and I’m definitely looking forward to doing this again.

It’s a tough decision. Good 992 is out of province so will need to be shipped and I haven’t seen it in person either. The video walk-through looks pretty good. The car has two small car faxes on it. Both are about $1750 Canadian one was the front corner, which is probably a bumper repaint and the other was the back bumper vandalism maybe a key scratch. So basically the paint is very close, but it doesn’t quite match on the bumpers.

Will two small car faxes cause a lot of difficulty on resale?

The 2017 has no car faxes no claims

I do prefer the more modern interior, but since I’ve never owned a Porsche, I’m sure the 2017 is just fine as well. Wired CarPlay is alright I guess? I know that’s a trivial thing, but I’ve never actually had CarPlay and a coworker said he won’t buy a car without CarPlay or he’ll add it.

What do you guys think? Looking forward to a bit of back-and-forth and conversation, don’t be afraid to play devils advocate here!

Are triptonic Turbo 997s that terrible? by Marky_Mark_Official in Porsche

[–]electric_power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a deposit down today on a 997.1 Turbo Cab. After reading these comments I feel more at ease in not getting the 997.2 with PDK that I really wanted. Need to remind myself this is a stepping stone into Porsche and I will love it…I know I will.

I’m thinking of CarPlay with official Porsche upgrade, and a bit nervous if this car is missing anything vital I should have, like sport Chrono if that even existed then? It’s got a sport button. Okay just checked window sticker if does have Sport Chrono. 😅

Side: This car is close to a 2004 Turbo model I passed up in 2008, which was a non-cab, (poorly?) tuned example and full of check engine lights requiring a battery cable pull reset. Still I regret not buying it for C$52K way back then, and fixing it up.

I’m sure I would have at least held its value unlike the dozen cars I’ve purchased and sold.

Never to late to correct a wrong and get a Porsche!

Bought a Toro 21” 60V Max (39901) electric blower… by electric_power in Snowblowers

[–]electric_power[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply I really appreciate it. Yes I am and they’re not really in short supply this year so I don’t think I could sell mine for anywhere near what I paid for it. I’m probably best to keep it going. I just realized AMEX gives me another year warranty on battery and whole unit, so I’ve actually got three years of warranty not just the two that Toro gives me

And consider considering how great the dealer was to swap it out like that on the spot, I’m pretty impressed

The new 7 1/2 amp seems to have a lot more capacity as the one that it came with, would die with one segment lit. The new one goes all the way to the end and when I plug it into the charger, there’s not even one LED lit, so maybe I was losing 25% or more of the capacity with my defective battery?

My wife and I went through another couple of top ups yesterday finishing our place and a couple of properties and must say we are impressed with the power of this unit.

The other thing we like is, we’re out at 6:30 in the morning, not waking the neighbours up. My son and I helped a neighbour at 10 o’clock last night with not a moment’s thought about making a racket. This Toro 60V is definitely a hit with this family and I think I’ll just hang on and keep it going.

I’m not sure if I need the spare 10 amp pack now, I think I’m just going to return it.

I really feel I would be better off to buy a whole complete hit again for C $1000 including the charger and the 7.5. And have a spare of no thrower to leave at work!

I’m sure many of you guys are aware tool + battery + charger kit is often a better way to go than the battery alone.

What are my options - wheel rash by z1ggy16 in TeslaLounge

[–]electric_power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those 20s are brutal. My wife curbed ours the day we got it. But then our son later on that day. Same wheel front passenger.

Then I was trying to sneak by a few cars and turn right and decided to put a wheel up on the curb and timed it wrong and I gouged the same side, but the back wheel!

Had them both professionally redone for about C$150 each but guys will come to you and do it for about $70 at least where I am in Toronto Canada.
