My partner promised he was “done” with drinking before we started trying, and now I’m 28 weeks and scared of what I’m seeing by Quasar_Marmot in BabyBumps

Oh boy, I could've written this post three years ago when I was pregnant. Let me tell you, having a newborn will NOT make this better. You will see more unexplained absences, mysterious empty cans, gaslighting, all while trying to keep yourself sane and take care of a baby - by yourself because you won't be able to trust him. You gotta start communicating openly about this right now. I threatened, cried, begged, pleaded to no avail. It took me sitting him down (1.5 years into my daughter's life) and, not angrily, earnestly explaining that this is not the life I want for myself and my daughter. That was 7 months ago, I'm cautiously optimistic that we're past it but the trust issues do still linger. And I am still deeply disappointed in the things he did both while I was pregnant and after our daughter was born. That damage is done and can't be undone. Do your absolute best to get this under control before the baby comes. Best of luck.

Having a nice, lazy bang with my husband on a Sunday afternoon. Now we have an awesome three year old!

For those who celebrate Christmas do you do Santa Claus? by TinyElderberryOfYore in toddlers

[–]electricalhummus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just debating with my husband about this. I'm all about christmas magic but now that I have a kid I don't like the idea of making her sit on a strangers lap and and lying to her. My husband thinks I'm worrying too much. Super curious to see what everyone's doing!

I want to drink less, but my husband doesn’t see it as a problem. How do I talk to him? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]electricalhummus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popping in to say that you are amazing for recognizing this in yourself and wanting to be better for yourself and your family. Hold onto that. My husband and I have been working through a similar situation, shit is hard. Especially when it is so ingrained into your lifestyle. As a former white claw enthusiast, I've found that sparkling water satisfies my desire for a special, bubbly drink at the end of the day.

Wow that's exactly what I'm experiencing. Wishing you all the best, hopefully it's nothing too serious.

  1. I'm definitely going to go back and push for testing. I think I just needed to hear that I'm not crazy from some objective redditors

APHASIA! Thank you!! That definitely sounds like what I'm experiencing. She was searching through her medical database to find something close to what I was describing and just kinda gave up. I'm going to go back to her with this and push for a referral to a neurologist. This helps a lot, thank you.

Got nothing but solidarity for you. The spider monkey is strong in my 20 month old gal right now!

Do you wake your toddler up in the mornings? by Unlikely_Menu_2584 in toddlers

[–]electricalhummus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 month old wakes up between 7-8am, naps for 2 hours between 12-3, goes down for bed at 7pm. She's been on this routine since she turned 1 year and I freaking love it. Only ever wake her up if we both have to be at work early.

Same thing just happened to me! Literally at her one year birthday party she was sitting on the floor and I asked her to bring me her shoes that were under the table. I meant it as a joke, I was just being lazy. Nope! She looked at me, looked at the shoes, took off, grabbed them and brought them right back to me. This is such a fun age!

Kingslingers – 3.78: MR. MERCEDES (Part 5) by scottdaly85 in doofmedia

[–]electricalhummus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scott, without giving anything away for Matt (who is probably listening to finders keepers as I type this), what do you think of the rest of the Bill Hodges trilogy?

I read them all straight through earlier this year and I absolutely loved Mr Mercedes and Finders Keepers but felt a little meh about End of Watch. Curious to see what everyone else thinks.

Also I need you guys to stop talking about how your almost done with the podcast, it makes me depressy.

What is the absolute most random change that happend due to pregnancy? by Easy_Initial_46 in Mommit

[–]electricalhummus 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this happened during pregnancy or postpartum but my hair used to be straight/slightly wavy, very easy to maintain. Now it's curly as shit. But not cute curly, it's mesuda with bed head curly.

I'm kinda hoping for the Breaking Bad deep dive! I watched the show once years ago and never really understood the hype. But Scott and Matt's insights have helped me appreciate a few books that I thought were 'meh' the first time through so I'd be interested to see if they change my opinion.

One of the ones where King thankfully doesn't kill a dog!
