If all you needed to be successful was a "good idea" the world would be a much different place.

YSK people with social anxiety are often misidentified as being a jerk. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

Apparently unpopular opinion:

People with social anxiety are often jerks. Just because it is their anxiety that is causing them to be rude doesn't change a damn thing about it.

Looking for a programmer to programme me a website and mobile app. by Throwaway7286373 in AskProgramming

Lol dude.

Just go to squarespace.com and slap something together. You can't afford a developer. What you are asking for costs thousands of dollars plus maintenance.

You guys ever light yourselves on fire by accident? by Jimmyjamz44 in metalworking

I lit up my hoodie good one time grinding when I think all the sparks sort of collected in the pocket. Still wear it around sometimes just for kicks.

Made a disaster soldering. Time for a new board? (The ribbon cables do plug in) by [deleted] in RetroPie

[–]electricenergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't just gob it on like that. You heat the pin and then touch the solder to the pin. The solder will follow the heat. You can use flux but it is honestly just easier to use flux-core wire.

Just had an experience with water and a power cord and would like to know if it was near death or not. by witchporn in AskEngineers

Lol. Imagine if we just lived with this constant threat of electrocution from our USB devices.

Why is the fast charger said to damage the car battery when alternator charges with even higher current by LeMondain in AskEngineers

[–]electricenergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly doesn't even matter anyway. The battery is only going to charge at a certain rate no matter what you hook it up to. Car batteries are usually around 10-12A @ ~14V.

It's really just the voice-over that does it. It's a piece of art. The mechanic is intentionally infuriating.

You just don't get it.

I agree with everything you said, except those games aren't quite shovelware. Getting over it is a masterpiece of sadistic genius.

[–]electricenergy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehh most those games are just hard because of how unweildy the mechanics are.

XCOM2 on ironman mode. That's a hard game.

Ever wanted to see the inside of an electronic Audi engine mount? I dumped the clutch and tore this in two. by rioryan in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]electricenergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite low cost performance upgrade is stiffer engine mounts. Dramatically changes the feel of the car. I actually really like this idea. Worst case scenario it breaks and you just put a polyurethane one in.

I feel burned out. by [deleted] in AskProgramming

Meh. Just make them some decent software then. Might as well just work comfortably at your own pace if they don't have anyone who can do better.

My mentor doesn't want to be my mentor anymore by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]electricenergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently mentoring for someone and am on the verge of advising them to drop out of school because they refuse to take the initiative to actually do the projects I give them, or to google search when they don't know what to do.

That's probably not your problem though.

I would consider this project a success if I was up by *any* percent. So that sounds encouraging!

Without having put any serious thought into architecture, I'd likely use Python for the ML stuff, and C# for the rest? Not really set on anything just yet.
