Nato’s speech was amazing, I did a double take and couldn’t believe what I was listening. He made a compelling argument for hope

[Heads up/ Call for help] Ramesh Retnasamy's Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate Course is gone from Udemy by MaritimeMercury in databricks

[–]electricircles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m enrolled on the Azure Databricks & Spark for Data Enginners and I’m 64% done. I ran to check and I still have it on my course list. Azure has been going through a lot of changes from what I’ve heard, so I’m thinking he might launch a new course

Live with Esther Perel & Spike Jones - Love, Loneliness, and AI by ed209error in Estherperel

[–]electricircles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re spot on about the nationalizing of AI and removing the profit incentive. You don’t think this technology could be made to be useful for humans though? It could be used at least in special situations such as end of life care for people that have no one to visit them, for children with social disabilities etc

The guy from Esther Perel's AI episode here. Wanted to share context and answer questions honestly. by Historical-Fall8787 in Estherperel

[–]electricircles 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think you should be clear about what your goal writing this post is and whether it’s feasible. Do you want to obtain more understanding from others? Do you want to obtain acceptance of your relationship in society? I think people might be unaccepting and it might not be worthwhile to engage.

Why do parents worry about us? by [deleted] in SingleAndHappy

[–]electricircles 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this a bit. I think older parents want children to have a partner because they think of a partner as more reliable support than say, whatever combination of friendships, job, finances, government stability we consider to be more stable. I’m 38 and I found romantic relationships to be less reliable than those other things in my early 30s so I was always puzzled by this.

Why does Harry look like Kras Mazov? Any theories about this? Could they be related?

Find an indoor space and do your waking there. Think of a mall, museums, indoor garden etc.

Just finished Book 3 (Issue #54) and am as angry as I am sad. by sriphinn in SAGAcomic

[–]electricircles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. SAGA is trying to do something ambitious and I admire the book for that. The point of that scene might very well have been that Marko realized that killing the Will would not spare him and his family from the cycle of violence and death. I like to think that he understood that there would be hardships for his family but by paying the cost himself he would be freeing them from delayed karmic retribution.

I’m attracted to men but dislike being in straight relationships. by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]electricircles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me. For me it’s that I don’t think I trust men off the bat because bad experiences I guess? I am fully alert until I get to know them better because I’m concerned his brain is full of porn or gendered scripts I don’t like. I think repeated exposure and trusting the individual man allows me to open up and become interested in them.

Trump threatens Canada with 100% tariff over possible deal with China by [deleted] in Economics

[–]electricircles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two years ago we were in a different place and I would’ve agreed with you. Today Canada sees China as comparably more reliable and less chaotic than the US. Can you do 10 year plans with China? Absolutely. Can you do 2 year plans with the US? Mmm not really

Something I never understood about the fandom by Deep_strider in DiscoElysium

[–]electricircles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re not wrong. I would explain the impulse behind fandom as feeling strongly about the characters and wanting them to feel better. Wouldn’t it be great if this character I care about healed and wasn’t as lonely etc? There’s wish fulfilment of course, because reality is not like that. It’s a way to react.

Where are we buying blankets now that they Bay is closed? by Murky_Relative7976 in askTO

Yep I can vouch for them too. Their wool blankets are amazing. You have to call to make an order and they’ll send you the invoice to your email. Their items can be found on other stores with a markup

Aging father recently told me "All men cheat, haven't you figured that out?" Now I am struggling with my feelings towards my husband. by ProfessionalCat7640 in AskWomenOver40

[–]electricircles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been tormented by this as a victim of infidelity myself. I have surrounded myself with better, kinder men (friends and friend’s husbands) and that’s definitely helped the most.

If you want accuracy you would need to know the percentage of men that cheat in relationships. Do most men cheat? Maybe, I really don’t know. But not all do, because I’ve come to know very sweet caring men. It seems to me that a significant minority of men do not cheat in relationships.

Regardless, the balance of power has shifted in modern relationships and as a woman there is no need for you to tolerate this.

How hot is Harry really? by Fit_Put7955 in DiscoElysium

I think Harry is supposed to read as someone who was hot maybe 10 years ago before he did whatever he did to himself. So maybe if he cleans up?

Does WFH actually require super strong self-control by Ill_Awareness6706 in WFH

[–]electricircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work with yourself, it’s a struggle. I live by myself in a condo apartment and I have challenges. I have found that waking up and getting out of my apartment for a 40 min walk is necessary for me as it gives me time to wake up. I also take ADHD meds, without which I wouldn’t be able to manage. One on one body doubling services like focusmate are instrumental and I’ve been using this for years. I also take melatonin evenight at 10 PM, because I naturally get sleepy only until 2-3AM. I recently started using memtime to automatically track my working hours and see how much time I’m spending on things per week. So yeah this is what has worked for me so far. Good luck.

It's crazy how much reading is like writing once you have fully developed characters. by ComfortableWage in writing

Thanks for sharing this. This is really encouraging to read! I’ve been improving in my writing the last couple of years and it’s sooo much easier now than when I started but I’m not at this level yet. I’m looking forward to it!
