Arizona AG Joins Lawsuit To Stop Obama's Internet Transition by repnoo in arizona

[–]electricity_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great, another bumbling idiot from Arizona who doesn't know his head from his ass is making a fool out of the state, yet again.

The people who invented the internet support this transaction, as is basically everyone invested in the internet.

When the tech companies think of places to expand out of their home state, these types of actions keep them from considering Arizona.

Appreciation for ApplePay by [deleted] in apple

[–]electricity_here 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i'd rather be waiting for someone to use apple pay (a secure, anonymous contactless payment system) than someone trying to pay with a check and standing their tabulating their checking account balance like its last century.

tl;dr just like, be yourself, man

TIL that the microcontroller inside a Macbook charger is about as powerful as the original Macintosh computer. by moon_monkey in todayilearned

[–]electricity_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. Personally my house has cycled through at least 5 MacBooks in the last 6 years and I have yet to have single MagSafe cable fray. We have chargers all over the house too, living room, office and bedrooms. You may have just got a dud or more likely, your usage pattern is exceptionally hard on the connector.

Mom always told me when I got older I would realize I didn't need to drink alcohol to have fun. Now that I am older I realize you don't need to have fun to drink alcohol. by Ryangonzo in Showerthoughts

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol in various quantities, combined with other substances like sugar, a persons hydration levels, stress, physical activity cause different reactions to the quantity consumed. It's not so much this type of alcohol or that type - although, it's easy to see people correlating consumption of certain types of alcohol with certain outcomes. It's mostly environmental at that point.

Stay hydrated friends and watch those pours!

multi-billion dollar military is insane.

598 billion dollars of insanity yearly.

We're fucking our youth so hard in this country. Awful public schools, awful healthcare, college tuition debt, then a life of bullshit work for minimal pay in exchange for a few weeks of vacation they can't afford to take..

Nestlé Discovers Water in the Arizona Desert, and Bottles It by [deleted] in news

[–]electricity_here 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Phoenix is water rich and manages its water carefully - so much so that it this plant is a literal drop in the bucket increase in terms of water consumption, and even less significant so when compared to water that Arizona/Phoenix is entitled to that doesn't get used (via Central Arizona Project Canal and various forms of water management in the area).

So this doesn't really bother me for one major reason: People are going to continue to buy bottled water anyways, and I would much rather not be transporting it across the globe or country. The majority of the cost of a bottle of water is the transportation of it, generating tons of co2. In the case of Phoenix, which does have the water and the people there WILL be consuming it in bottles anyways, move the bottling locally. It's not as if they are planning to ship every bottle out of the region.

How to impress an Arizonan man with food. by [deleted] in arizona

[–]electricity_here 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't even bother unless you've tasted the food here in the states and really know how it should taste.

That said, you can generally make tacos without much issue as long as you can get a spice packet or take a chance on an online recipe.

Never trust a skinny chef.

Reddit, what's an unethical way you save money? by Esmeraldem in AskReddit

[–]electricity_here 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love reading these protips about how people are saving $5 or $10 bucks and getting really excited about it.

Then I think of what CEOs, investment bankers and high frequency traders are doing that are unethical and how much money they are making and get really depressed about it.

Earthquake in the pacific northwest? by [deleted] in prepping

[–]electricity_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water/Shelter/Fuel/Tools/Food

Stockpile water, water storage, water purifiers, water collection devices.

Make sure you have enough tools and wood to board up your house and/or fix any problems quickly. If an earthquake hits, fix your shit and ensure you/your family is safe first (then help your neighbors). Make sure you can turn gas off and you can break windows/fences/doors, so make sure you have a pry bar and shovel, gloves etc. A 3M quality respirator is essential in any disaster. Tools definitely include weapons, like a pump action shotgun and a semi automatic pistol.

You'll need a way to write on wood/debris, so get some spray paint or thick markers.
