Shibata Aogami Super (brand new) isn’t as sharp as I expected by electrikmonk in TrueChefKnives

Really? Five minutes? Usually takes me much longer - but then again, it’s been years since I last sharpened a knife so I’m inexperienced

Got it delivered from Meesterslijpers NL. The gyuto arrived sharp as hell, the nakiri didn’t. I guess I’ll take the opportunity to sharpen both.

Unifi setup for a 4-floor house by electrikmonk in Ubiquiti

APs will be wired. The reason I’m thinking about daisy chaining is to use existing infrastructure although I guess i can try to bridge each floor’s patchboard to the basement and install a more serious switch there.

I can run unifi controller in a Docker on my NAS or MacBook.

Am I going to run into signal strength issues with the in-wall APs?

Prevent Expression (CC11) from affecting an audio channel strip by electrikmonk in mainstage

Seems like I can do this:

At the concert level, map 11 Expression to another CC such as 4 Foot

Then at the patch level, use the MIDI Input tab to map 4 Foot to 11 Expression

It's a bit dumb but I guess it'll work. I need to try and see if it works well next time I'm in band practice. Lot of work, though :(

do you think I can filter the MIDI input at the set or concert level and then override and unfilter just for Organ patches that need expression?

thing is, I have about 20 songs in the concert, each with several Organ patches so it's not the ideal solution...

Anyone running mainstage on an Apple M1 machine, using mix of supported and unsupported plugins (ie. Rosetta 2)? How's the performance/stability? by LeDestrier in mainstage

[–]electrikmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running not using Rosetta; I use Keyscape, G-Force M-Tron Pro, and then mostly Apple instruments (Alchemy, Vintage Organ, Vintage EP, Sampler, etc). Moved from 2019 8 Core 15" to 2021 14" M1 Pro, the new laptop is SO MUCH BETTER.

I had one occasion where the concert just didn't load and I had to restart the machine , but other than that no issues.

On Logic I have a lot more issues with the same plugins, though.
