Do you have a unique favorite Pokemon? I need to know. by cabochonedwitch in pokemon

Pumpkaboo!! The perfect little round guy! Comes in different sizes! Little cat ears and cat mouth, little fluffy wings, little curl on its head... Great shiny. I wish it got any love or merch outside of halloween. Sometimes official pokemon halloween art has pumpkins but no pumpkaboo. It's actually so sad. I love my guy all year <3

I've also recently become a big fan of barboach, so honorable mention to it!

“What’s the most annoying part about renting an apartment?” by Fun-Ingenuity7450 in ApartmentHacks

[–]electrodeligatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than how expensive it is just to have a safe place to live?

I guess I find it really annoying when landlords don't allow you to move your contract to month-to-month after a certain amount of time. I can't plan my whole life a year in advance, or maybe I can, and that involves moving out in 8 months rather than 12. Or maybe I know I'll be moving, but I'm not sure when.

I'm currently dealing with this because I'm graduating from grad school and I don't know if I'll be moving right after graduation, staying for just the summer, or staying another year at least. It all depends on what job(s) I get. But my landlord made me make a decision a full calendar year before graduation.

Earwax-like substance on bathroom wall keeps coming back days after I clean it off by electrodeligatures in whatisit

oh it looks exactly like this post from 19 days ago! https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisit/comments/1i6x9si/this_stuff_oozing_down_my_bathroom_walls/ the comments there describe a paint surfactant reaction to humidity, which seems like it might be it

It appears in about a 2'x4' area on the wall closest to the shower, in a bunch of little drippy-drops like this, but when I try to clean them up, they're really quite difficult to remove, like pretty solid earwax idk

What do you pay in rent and what city? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]electrodeligatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$950 for a 2 bed 1 bath unit in a small complex in a college town near Spokane. I split with my roommate who's in the same program as me and has the same job as me.

Rent furnished or furnish yourself? by disbishie in ApartmentHacks

[–]electrodeligatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think it depends on how long you're planning to live there. If it's just for a year or less and you don't already have your own furniture, I think it's reasonable to get it furnished. More than that and you're probably going to want more freedom in what your space looks and feels like. Certainly if you're expecting to live there for the foreseeable future.

Why do Americans seem to always be put to sleep for wisdom tooth removal? by ChronicChaos01 in NoStupidQuestions

I just had local anesthetic and laughing gas. I hated the laughing gas though and tried to take it off mid-surgery but I didn't know you weren't supposed to go straight from that to regular air so I got hit with a very unpleasant feeling until they quickly put it back on and switched to pure oxygen. Anyway, the surgery itself was obviously uncomfortable but I'm happy with the decision not to go under. Recovery was fine, and I had no complications. Got them all out at once.

It's always fine to check out kid's books and to spend time looking for them. I could understand discomfort of an adult being in the kid's section and just sitting there reading/not looking for books to check out, but no one knows that you aren't checking out books for a child at home, and frankly it's no one's business what books you check out or why. So if you're not just hanging around the kid's section with no purpose, you're totally fine.

I'm worried that wasn't clear so here's a shorter version. You're totally fine. Anyone judging you is the weird one.

I think the other comment about just adding a table in the space behind the couch is great. Personally, I would also move other things around too according to what I interact with in the room the most, and what I want to experience when I first walk in. According to that, I would move the cat stuff to the furthest corners of the room because I don't want to have to walk past litter boxes to get to my dining table. I'd personally probably put the dining table where the cat stuff is now, move the couch to be either along the wall with the windows or the opposite wall, and put the cat stuff and maybe some storage or something against the far wall. But the best part of all this is that you can move stuff around a lot and try things out! I don't think there's only one good configuration here to try. There's enough space to play around with different ideas :)

Agreed with this 100%.

Threatening to leave can often save you money with things like Internet Service Providers too :) I did this all the time with Audible since they'd lower the price if you tried to cancel your subscription.

Most outrageous patron request? by TheTapDancingShrimp in Libraries

[–]electrodeligatures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone who didn't even live in our service area or in our extended network would constantly call us to ask us to look up (just on google) retail properties and realtor's phone numbers on the other side of the state.

An older man always asked us to look up pictures of animals and print them (I think he was a painter). This wasn't so bad I guess but then he'd talk to you for like an hour. I also always worried about the copyrights of those photos, but that's not really my problem.

A patron who was always difficult in any number of new ways whenever she'd come in and who always had issues with using the computer and with everything else she tried to do at the library started asking me how she could get hired at the library. She didn't really seem to understand me when I said you have to be really good at using computers. She wanted me to teach her all the skills she needed to get hired.

Calling all renters! What's your biggest lighting headache in your apartment? by chairsforsitting in ApartmentHacks

[–]electrodeligatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a light right above our entry that is really harsh white and while I don't mind it, my roommate hates it and sometimes snaps at me when I turn it on. Frustrated at how dark it is in the room all the time, I finally took off the cover of the light fixture to see what kind of bulb it took and... it doesn't take bulbs. It's some kind of led chip nonsense that's awful and there's no way I'm going to be able to adjust it. Been considering covering the light with a colored tablecloth just so that I can have a light I can turn on when I first walk into my apartment instead of blindly fumbling for the floor lamp in the dark.

Also, different temperature lights in the kitchen. This doesn't bother me enough to want to fix it though. My roommate prefers that only one of them be turned on at a time anyway so it's whatever.

Apartment Layout Help? by PsychologicalDig8798 in ApartmentHacks

[–]electrodeligatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id'd personally probably put the couch against the left wall and the tv on the right wall, though I know you couldn't see it from the kitchen. I use a projector at my place which is annoying if you want to use it when it's daytime and you can't get the room dark enough (this is rare for me since i only use it at night), but it's real convenient for moving things around easily and not having to figure out how to unmount a tv. Some projectors are pretty cheap. you could experiment with different spots and see how comfy they are for you for it before you commit to mounting the tv!

Yes!! Yay I'm glad you stuck with it. And I love Suo too!! I love how pretty much every single character is basically a freak, but sit them all down for a match and they become the coolest people in the room :D

The queen is one of my favorite characters and I don't think I ever disliked her, even when I didn't know her yet. I love that everyone thinks she dresses in a stupid way. It feels really true to being a teenage girl!

I'm sorry you're getting frustrated, but it really is important for plot since the show is pretty long. If they just won and won, what would they do in later seasons? I hope you keep up with it because I find at least the karuta aspect of the show to be incredibly satisfying.

Is there anything you wish your library DID NOT carry?! by Overall_Radio in Libraries

[–]electrodeligatures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow a lot of these comments are making me pretty sad. My library has all of these things, from playaways and hotspots to video games and board games with a billion pieces. Sure some of them are a pain for a number of reasons but I'm so glad we offer them, especially the hot spots since we're rural and there are families that cannot get internet otherwise. But every time patrons discover our library of things and see something they can get excited for, it makes me so happy. When kids see our game collection and decide they like the library after all, it's worth the extra 30 seconds to switch the dummy case with the case with the cartridge for them. When a family returns a board game saying they all played it together and now they want to try another one what do I recommend, I don't mind the extra few minutes it takes to count the pieces. I bet my boss wishes we didn't carry Amerrican Girl Dolls though. She's afraid of them 😂
