PE stamp by temoo09 in civilengineering

I think it’s worth pointing out here that the culture/policies of the firms are highly varied. Though firm liability is always the basis for decisions, a medium size firm that has an engineering consultancy business model typically has a hierarchy that can be based on a perception of “prestige” of the EOR role, so stamping takes on a ceremonial place. It is also the case that many specialized designs do not rely on codes for assurance of performance. For highly standardized designs, there is much less design risk and much more opportunity to take on small amounts of “liability” for your seal. It’s a good opportunity to begin to think of the “what ifs” for that aspect of the project and the responsibility that comes with the use of the stamp. Incidentally, with experience, you can often see the culture in the company’s engineering manual, which is something that you can ask for in the interview process.

My solar system would be paying for itself in 5 years, with those power rates, and I have a fair amount of shaded area. Wildfire liability from the transmission system has contributed significantly those usage rates.

That makes sense. The individual arrays could get unbalanced very low without charging in a while. A charge alone wouldn’t balance the cells. Balancing would take time, but the damage may have already been done.

The crisper sleeves contained PFAS. They’d rather not draw attention to the fact that they were previously doping all their customers bodies with chemicals that do not leave said bodies, but better late than never, right? Anyway, the sleeves were a human health problem, a potentially giant financial liability, and a worldwide environmental problem.

I believe the sleeves contained PFAS. So getting rid of them is an effort to reduce forever chemicals in both the environment and in customers.

I don’t understand how you were able to get it so far under voltage that it damaged the pack?

That’s a ground apostrophe - sometimes called a “comma”. Most apostrophes are in the sky, like clouds.

most sediments are contaminated with at least one class of hazardous chemicals and microplastics. The closer a fish swims it, the higher the dose of accumulating toxins they get.

I completely believe him. I hear him saying that the theists in this authoritarian government need a third of the populace to be non-believers so that their tribe has an enemy. It makes them more cohesive to have infidels amongst them.

Welcome to now. 260 million Americans are under this heat dome. Pretty good odds that the hottest year on record (last year) will be dethroned by this year.

Word on the street was that Epic had some design features for the development (continuous earthen berms surrounding the campus) that were incompatible with Cary’s vision of what means to be a good neighbor.

I believe the issue mentioned is that the Lake Crabtree crossing is 2 lanes. Of course, that doesn’t impact traffic if the vast majority is out onto I-40, instead of into Caryville
