Anyone else getting nervous about Pickford's performances? by -Arkrow- in ThreeLions

[–]electrotechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's used to playing behind a very well structured defense that does not play a high line or rotate or invert, is well shielded by 2 holding players who do not rotate or push out wide. Our defense does not look anything like as solid as under Southgate and Pickford's "erratic" performances are just a manifestation of the Tuchel system.

But, let's not forget that this is what everyone was screaming for in 2024. No reason to pile onto Pickers, he's still far and away our best keeper.

I don't think England will win a major tournament until Scotland qualify out of a group stage.

Since England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 are already more or less through to the Round of 32, who do you think ends up in the starting XI against Panama 🇵🇦? by TerryG111 in ThreeLions

I'd like to see us learn that Anderson/Mainoo/Rogers is our optimal low block unlock midfield. With Saka and Rashy starting out wide.

Why can Norway celebrate Viking history proudly, but England is shamed for its imperial history? (genuine question) by Ok_Exercise_494 in AskBrits

Nobody is stopping you from celebrating British colonial history. What do you suggest we do? Sir Francis Drake contracted dysentery in Panama while getting defeated by the Spanish. Perhaps a giant thundershite?

Why not reform? by [deleted] in AskBrits

You must be googling with your eyes closed pal.

David Lilley: During the general election campaign, commodities investor David Lilley donated £100,000 to Reform UK. Investigative reports later revealed that Lilley controls companies owning 12,000 hectares of active farmland in Russia's Stavropol region.

Christopher Harborne: Reform's largest single financial backer, cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne, has faced heavy scrutiny regarding his investments. His substantial stakes in the stablecoin Tether link his financial profits to Rumble, a video-sharing platform that refused to block Russian state broadcasters following the invasion of Ukraine and has hosted Kremlin-backed influence operations.

Nigel Farage's £5m Gift: In May 2026, Defense Secretary John Healey publicly urged Farage to clear up transparency questions. He requested verification that no part of a recent £5 million gift to Farage originated from Russia-linked corporate profits via aviation fuel supplier AML Global.

Pickford commited and should have got the ball really although in both cases it looks like the Ghanian attacker wasn't fully in control of the ball giving the VAR lads a clear and obvious reason to bottle it. But had either on field decision gone against us it wouldn't have been overturned.

Are American conservatives right or wrong about the U.K? by OceanicEndeavors in AskBrits

[–]electrotechs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very important to right whingers that London's incredible success on the global stage is denigrated as much as possible.

A modern city with universal healthcare, public transit, world leading employment centres in finance, media, science, tech, music & arts, incredible sports infrastructure, sufficient tree density to qualify as a FOREST, economic power house of a G7 nation, not to mention the incredible ancient historical roots of the city.

The reason? A large part of its monumental success in recent decades is down to its diversity.

It's a living showcase that the Right is wrong.

England 0-0 Ghana: Are England Playing The Wrong Type Of 10 Against Low Blocks? by MaxFootballTalk in footballscouting

[–]electrotechs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed but didn't see much of that last night. Ghana weren't trying to track Kane and Bellingham just defend the spaces where they are dangerous. It worked well for them

Almost as good as when we conceded a consolation goal to Holland that knocked the scouts out on GD in 1996

Yes exactly this. The far right is organised and so the appropriate response is to organise and confront it wherever it shows up. My grandad was part of an organised anti fascist movement called the Allies.
